I just got off an eight month span of bulking, 4500 calories a day, 320g of protein, 470g carbs, 155g fat. My BMR is roughly 2,000 calories per day. Worked out 5 days a week and I found at the end of it that I was gaining mass but was gathering a lot of fat in my face region. I don't think I calculated my bulking plan all that well so something has to change this next time around

I've used mono creatine in the past because it was cheap, but my brother told me about Beast Creature creatine. I like the mixibility and the flavors of the Beast but I switched back to mono b/c of how cheap it is. Over the past couple of days I've read and researched Creatine HCL. Have any of you tried it or think its more beneficial than mono? I read that you don't have to take as much and it digest better.

Just ordered some of the mocha flavored whey protein from myprotein.com. Gonna order some beta whatever and creatine this week. Anyone take glutamine for muscle recovery? I used to take it before and I feel like it helped a little. Just started doing the 5x5 lifts yesterday and I'm sore af already, I'm in for a long, sore couple of weeks.

Any of y'all implement white potatoes or reds over sweet? I am needing a flavor, texture change and trying to figure out a halfway decent way to cook them, prep them.

I hate sweet potatoes. I love whole white potatoes, but after I'm done dumping sides on one, it's like 700 calories lol. Sour cream, butter, cheese, bacon

For my diet, I love those canned whole Irish potatoes. They're really good. I just microwave them with a little salt and pepper.

I love sweet potatoes, quick and easy and doesn't need much seasoning or butter to satisfy my tastes

Sometimes I'll chop up some baby reds and bake em. Tossed in olive oil and some seasoning :)

I dice them up into cubes and put olive oil and old bay on them. Bake them in the oven.

Don't like sweet taters? You're from the south brah! Mashed is the best way to have them. I prefer others over sweet taters, since I go crazy putting all kinds of shit on the regular ones. A loaded tater with barbecued meat is tasty.

Not a big fan of sweets. I can eat a sweet potato, but I have to but butter and salt on it to mask the flavor.

Just found this thread, right on. It will be nice to read through and see what others are doing.
My routine consists of intermittent fasting (16:8), soccer once a week and weight training a few times a week using the reverse pyramid.
I've tried tons of different methods but this has been the most effective for me.

It models the http://www.leangains.com/ type of workouts.

I used to do the gym 6 days a week and do quite a few supplements, but was never getting the results I wanted. I'm 5'8 and in January weighed 186lbs... in April I switched over to the above mentioned routine and am 149lbs (as of Tuesday) and stronger.

My goal originally was to focus on weight loss, so I had a calorie deficit while working out and now I am still doing the intermittent fasting but changing my calorie intake to help build more muscle. I would like to be a lean 155-160lbs.

Body Fat % iss hard to say until I get a Dexa scan... those little hand held ones at my LA Fitness want to call me 12.8% and I know that is underestimating by too much sadly.

I forgot to mention, I don't really do any supplements/stimulants other than Black Coffee.
However, I have tried many... just never really did much for me.

149lb for a 5'8" dude, your thin bro. Are you trying to cut your body fat and add odd lean muscle mass or just trying to achieve a smaller build?

I don't think 149, 5'8" is that thin. Short guys can have a lot of muscle and still be relatively light.

Anything you guys do to be less sore/muscle fatigue the next day? I'm doing the 5x5 lifts. Did squats/barbell OH press/deadlift yesterday. I ran/walked for about 20 minutes after as I've heard that helps clear the legs. Also foam rolled and stretched for another 15 minutes after running. My legs are significantly less sore than my upper body today

I used to foam roll at the end of every workout when I was doing a 90 day straight gym challenge. I used the smaller lacrosse balls for spot rolling in the areas that are hard to hit with a foam roller. Seemed to help significantly

@uhplifted Also make sure you get enough sleep

I'll add a photo here in a bit just for some perspective. It's really not that thin because of my height. However, I am looking to add lean muscle now. At first I my main focus was to drop body fat %. Still have some work to do with body %, I would like to have some better definition especially in the core area. Not necessarily a 6-pack but close. So based on everything I've tried in the past, I think what will work best for me is to keep doing the intermittent fasting, but with a regular caloric intake (not much deficit on off days, and full intake on gym days) plus keeping the reverse pyramid scheme for lifting.
In an ideal situation I would like to be a maintainable 155-160lbs with 15-17% body fat. BUUT.. of course, when I achieve that it could change. Who knows!
