    So Bob. I just started the 5x5 workout this week. Did you do this at all? If so what did you do on the off days? I hate coming home from work and not going to the gym and not being active. I'm considering trying to run again, if my knees will allow it. Or possibly swimming or biking at the gym.

    If you just started and you're eating enough to recover, then you'll make quick gains and your lifts will quickly go up (week over week). Don't worry too much in the beginning about filling in your off days with anything too stressful on the legs like running. Squats and deads are gonna eat up every ounce of energy you have if you do them correctly.

    I did the 5x5 for about 8 weeks before I got burnt out on it. I did cardio/abs/arms on the off days and still went 5-6 days per week.

    I run for about 20-30 mins after the workout is done to help the legs recover. I just get bored being at home and not being active.
    I don't foresee myself doing this for too long. Maybe 2 months just to build my base strength back up. I hate being inactive so I might try and just swim or something. My cardio is terrible so I really need to do something to increase my endurance in that. Running is hard on my knees so I try and swim or bike. Might just do that for 45-hour on the off days
    Haven't done anything other than the 5x5 workouts so far this week. I just started Monday. Like I said above I'll probably do cardio on the off days, maybe add in some pullups/dips/arms as well.

    I've always been relatively active. I used to surf a lot but haven't done that in a year since I started a new job. I'd go on hikes every couple weeks, and I'd workout occasionally. I just got really lazy once I started my job though which was the biggest part. I used to be in pretty good shape but over the last couple years I've just been getting lazier, drinking more beer, and not doing much physical activity. I've never been fat but I started noticing myself gaining a bit of a beer belly and I just want to improve my health and strength now

    My main staples are ground turkey with a good salad..a local hot sauce for the turkey and Newman's balsamic. After a weekend of eating whatever or coming back from a vacation...I look forward to that meal! 13 yrs later even...

    I was so excited at the end of my senior year to step on the scale and see 150lb! (I was 5'11" and 1.5yr earlier I was 135lb..)
