Pretty much spot on on the CrossFit part. I’ve got a friend that was doing CrossFit at the old gym I went to. The “coach” got his cert in a quick online class. He had her doing deadlifts (at way too much weight), way too fast, and told her the form was great...when it was God awful. One day she didn’t have class and started doing deads out front. I corrected her form and she said “oh my god that feels so much better! He told me I was fine but it was absolutely killing my back!”

    My main problem with CrossFit.

CrossFit has brought the classic lifts and Olympic lifts to the masses. Not everybody learned to lift in high school playing football. So, yes, I agree that there are some inexperienced coaches out there. Fortunately for me, and every other person I know that does CrossFit, we’ve got excellent coaches. A couple are physical therapists. One is a talented Strongman and powerlifting athlete.

Making sweeping generalizations about a fitness regimen based on anecdotal examples does not condemn CrossFit for anyone with a brain.

As for the body aesthetic, most people I know that CrossFit are involved in other sports. Martial arts, cycling, swimming ... being jacked and huge isn’t all that functional, or sustainable long term.

It’s also super fun to make fun of because all you crossfitters get so butthurt when we do it.

That's because people are going to rag you to make themselves feel better. I'm the only one out of my friends group that lifts and diets seriously and they always talk shit on me saying the same things about "who are you trying to impress?" and "we're all gonna die anyway" and "you could be doing so much more with your time." From 5-7:30 pm they're all at home sitting on the couch watching tv...I consider my time spent at the gym much more efficient and enjoyable than sitting on the couch watching tv. They're all fat slobs...I'm a fat slob with muscles

TL;DR: they jealous of you, brah

Being jacked is functional. I can achieve the function of squatting 400 lbs.

No shit. Lifting in the globo gym is boring AF - not too much to make fun of.. ‘oh, you’ve been here all day, you’ve spray tanned yourself orange, four scoops ?!’ etc .. see, not very funny

Ha ha - I gotta admit I admire guys with huge Totals and massive DL and squat numbers. That ain’t me. I’m old. So nothing but respect for people that lift heavy. All subcultures are funny in their own way, and certainly tribal.

Old man crossfit was saying being big and lifting heavy isn't sustainable.. Rolling on a mat w/ young strong men isn't either...was my point.
