Lookup Cam Hanes on YouTube/ insta. Ultra endurance athlete who's jacked and lean. I think that's the body type he's referring to.

Lean means low body fat percentage. It has nothing to do with gross weight. Typically endurance athletes are not lean. They are very thin but have high body fat percentages.

My body fat was probably around 18% when I ran half marathons and my marathon.
I’m 10% now and weigh 30lbs more. I’d much rather be where I am now. I can run a lot faster than I used to and I have a hell of a lot more strength. I was a puny nothing as a runner

Cam Hanes is a badass. Dude has a 80 lb pull on his bow. That would break my arm off at the shoulder if I tried to pull that back.

    What a dumb comparison.

Different activities. I’m sure those long distance people or even most of those dojo bros probably can’t bench or squat or likely deadlift their body weight.

I’d much rather be strong and look strong than be able to karate chop someone. More useful in real life too. :D

It's all good and depends on what you want to do at your fitness level. At 72, gone are the days where I wanted to be heavy. I train now for fitness and to keep my ticker ticking as long as possible. I once weighed 224 lbs, the highest I ever weighed, but after I got into karate, my weight dropped to 190 and stayed there for years. I have been a cyclist since 1988, took it up as cross training for running. I then later had a blood clot in my lungs that almost took me out. Here I was so fit and almost died. Seems what I got is hereditary. It took out many of my family members, but I figured I was invincible since I was the only one in the family, who stayed fit. After the clot, I went through a depression stage. Then an old friend invited me to a New Years Day 100k ride. I was invited to join the Randonneurs USA. I did, and my depression left me. I have spent the last two years going longer and longer distances. I have done it all, power lifting, karate, marathon running, now distance cycling, and no matter what you do, whatever you do, enjoy it. You want to keep doing the things that make you the happiest in your life.

Yeah, there were a lot of those muscle types in the dojo that if they hit you, you were going to feel it, but the trick was to suck them in and make them feel it. They were big but so slow. Like I said before in another post, enjoy what you do, but don't just spend time in the weight room, get out there and do some running as well as cycling. If you do cycle, don't ride in sweat pants because then you really look like a dork. At least invest in some good bike shorts or tights. They will save your butt on those tiny little bike saddles.

Man, talk about hard core. Hey, I used to do a lot of back packing years ago, and when I had to go and no TP, I had to use what was available. Only problem, there were only pine needles around. Necessity is the mother of invention. :D
