I will say this tho... going up to 3,000 calories for maintenance would be... intense. Like I can see what y’all mean by it almost becomes annoying having to force yourself to eat cause that is a lot of food

This is the hard part now tho lol.

Like you want gains but don’t want fat. You want to maintain but then again want gains. You workout harder and don’t eat more because you’re scared of fat but then you don’t get gains cause you don’t eat enough and it’s just a clusterfuck that I’m trying to find a happy medium on lol.

    From 218 to 186.

It will suprize you how much healthy food you need to eat in a bulk.
I’m 5’9’ and bulk at 3200-3500. I’m shocked you cut at 1500 and aren’t starving. Although I guess it depends on the length of the cut. I can starve off a few lbs quickly but I can’t do it long.

I have a race on Sunday then I can start bulking on Monday. This conversation is getting me worried about it LOL

It was a unhealthy mentality thing. I just was tired of being fat so I cut HARD.

Then I began researching and learning more and more and now I know I did it the unhealthy way. I don’t know how I did. But I did. Guess a mind over matter thing.

Now that I’m comfortable with my body and trying to fine tune it, I’m really learning more and more. Just like our discussion today. Really really really love this lifestyle and changes tho. Best decision I’ve ever made

Kinda like getting a long travel kit. Bolting it on is easy. Valving it is the tricky part

It looks like you have gotten some good newbie gains regardless of cutting like that... which is pretty incredible.

I push myself incredibly hard in the gym. Form is #1 but I almost always go to failure. Like if I dont leave the gym feeling like I’m dead then I kick my ass for not giving it 100%.

Now My goal is to get gains while having a moderate size. Don’t want to get massive and don’t want to be skinny. Just a decent build.

Also trying to get rid of that little pocket of fat left on my lower stomach lol.

Y’all and this thread have been so fucking helpful and I love having y’all to talk to tbh.

Watch the weight on the scale. Don’t gain much more than 1-2lbs a month for a good controlled gain.

This is the hard part. I’m going to try to gain mass while not deviating off my current BF. If I do it right, it’ll be my first time haha.

For the first couple of years lifting your body responds very favorably to the stimulus. After that, the gains get harder and harder to come by. You might gain 10+lbs of muscle naturally your first year lifting. At the seasoned stage I now struggle to put 2lbs of muscle on in a year... :pout: But I ain't mad!

Yes newb gains are great. However I still believe you can make great progress for years to come. You may not add mass but you will mature your muscles over time changing their shape and structure. 2 lbs may be a little low, unless 10 years of consistent lifting.

In 6 years I effectively put on at least 50# of muscle. I was not nearly as lean when I started (skinny fat) and now I am leaner yet 70# heavier. Everyone's experience will vary, but gains are to be made just gotta see them in different ways as I mentioned above.
