You're off to a great start! Best thing here is counting your macros. Keep that going and you will see sustained continuous improvement. Don't get wrapped up in the powerlifting numbers. If you want to build them, do it. If not, don't. I don't keep track of them anymore and ever since I stopped caring about how much weight I can move I am relatively injury free and my progress has sky rocketed.

Thanks! Yeah, I'm not one to chase numbers much, but I will pay attention to them. Staying mostly uninjured is a priority to me over having big numbers, but I like the numbers cause = strong!

I hate tracking macros and basically do it for a couple days every other week or so to keep track of what I can eyeball. So I'm not very accurate. I figure keep it steady and slow and I'll get a good thing going.

I will say this. I’ve never heard of using a calculator for PR’s.

There’s a bit of a learning curve when going from a stiff bar to a deadlift bar. Probably shouldn’t have tried to PR on a brand new bar I’ve never used before.

Yeah totally. It's not a true 1rm, it's for training purposes. Helps me estimate what my training weight should be. I'm not yet comfortable doing a true 1rm. Will get around to that sometime, when I have a few more weeks of proper training here.

Used a deadlift bar for the first time at the comp, little more whippy but not really that noticeable to me.

Started wendlers 5/3/1 today to switch things up. Felt weird backing off at first and not lifting as much as I usually do. Did legs today.

    Squats 280 for 5, 320 for 5, and 365 for 6.
    Lunges 3x10
    Hamstring curls 3x15
    Close stance leg press 4x20
    Calf raises 4x25

Been lifting for the last 6 years. Just haven’t made as much progress lately. Feels weird going from 405 5x5 on squat a few weeks ago to this volume, but being more consistent and methodical in my training might help.

I hear from ppl who know a lot more than me, that 5/3/1 (and Texas method) have insufficient volume for anyone but a novice lifter. And that according to studies, a fair amount of volume at somewhere past 60-70% of your max RPE is optimal for strength and size gains.

I'm still listening and learning a lot, so YMMV and I'm sure others will pipe in.
