    So I got this question...

I am trying to bulk right now and currently I am at 168# 6'1". I gained 10# in the last 2 months or so, maybe less time. I check my weight on my buddies scale that also checks BF (though that shit isn't accurate really right?) But I was at 10% BF now I am at 16% (so it says) Yet I don't really see any fat anywhere, (maybe very slightly in the abs)..

I guess my question is should I be worried about becoming fat? lol... never put on this much weight so quickly ever.. And when is too much bulking... too much? I've been trying to bulk for 8 months but apparently it didn't work till just recent.

your squat form has improved a ton. my main recommendation though is drop the weight and get the full range of motion. form is fundamental and right now you're cheating yourself by not sitting the squat all the way down (hamstrings parallel to the floor). once you have form dialed in, then you can start to add weight. by getting form down, i'm talking about squating with an un-loaded oly bar

    quality > quantity

it's really difficult to explain form through typing. try hitting up one of the trainers there for a really quick form critique... i would think they'd be happy to help for a minute or two.

    sweet shoes BTW :D

Whew, first day in the gym in almost a year. A friend of mine and my cousin have been working out for a week or two, and I jumped in today on a 1 week pass. It's an odd group. My friend is about 6'1'', 250 lbs; he's pretty pudgy and trying to lose weight. We've worked out on and off at times over the last few years. He's trying to lose some weight and lean up, but he's pretty strong so it makes for a good workout because we're usually within 5-10lbs or so of each other on lifts. My cousin is about 5'10'', 160 lbs; he's never worked out before and has no experience at all. But he's wanting get the swing of things and put on some muscle. He was doing about half of the weight that we were today but it's awesome that he's in there trying. And I am about 6'2'', 185 lbs. The last time I was lifting regularly about a year ago, I was about 215-220 lbs and decently lean. I've always been able to gain weight and size pretty quick if I ever come back from not working out, but I also lose it pretty easy when I stop.. kinda sucks, but at least I don't get fat, lol. They were on just bi's, tri's, and abs today, with a little cardio. I was actually surprised with myself because I still had pretty good strength, but pretty low endurance. By the time we were on our third set of tricep extensions my arms felt like they were as big around as my legs lol. I'm hoping to get back in the swing of things because even though I could barely reach up to feed myself at supper tonight, it felt good to work out again. Maybe next week when this free pass runs out I will buy a month and see how it goes.

Sorry for the long post, just excited about getting back in the gym I guess.

Really? What did our ancestors do when they got a kill? Saved 100 small meat snacks for later or ate as much as they could in as few sessions as possible? Just playing devils advocate! A decent sized steak has close to that in protein as does half a chicken?

i'm not going to read through 289 pages of this thread to find the answer to my question. but, what's everyones thoughts on milk? i workout about 4 times a week and drink at least 3 glasses of milk a day. i like milk and figure it's a good source of protein. my buddies at the gym are doing the Paleo diet and are preaching to me not to drink milk. Without looking at all the Google results on pros and cons of milk and the Paleo diet I just wanted to see what ya'll on the gym/workout thread thought about it.

2.5" lift, ARE Shell, Ducks Unlimited Rubber Floor Mats. ROGUE badges,
Milk is good. But just like everything else keep it in moderation, don't drink it more than water do you drink whole? 2%? Skim? If your trying to lose weight obviously drink leaner milk.

Try mixing a mass gainer shake with whole milk. It is the greatest thing you will ever drink after a workout!

Our bodies can only take so much protein at once mike, then again if the 89gm of protein is from different sources then yes I think that amount can be digested. But that much of straight whey protein would result in quite a bit being wasted

Paleo is just a fad diet, and a pretty fucked up one at that, it basically starves your body so it uses the stored fat in your body. Unless you need to lose 50-100 lbs, don't worry about what your buddies say.

    Don't forget about calcium....

If you reduce your milk intact, you need to supplement your calcium somehow. Your bones, tendons, & teeth will Thank You.

    This

    And this too

A when you consume too much protein your body will actually store it as fat. The same will happen if you don't consume carbohydrates with protein. One of the many reasons I no longer drink protein shakes.

Paleo I guess has been a fad since the caveman days Chad...it doesn't starve the body, it just uses different foods to feed the body, lean meats, nuts, fresh fruit and greens along with goat milk and such.
