YMCA has day passes and they're everywhere. I always hit one up when visiting my girlfriend's parents in Iowa or traveling for work....

The next two weeks mon-fri I am going to be at a client in Michigan doing some consulting work. Will only come home for the weekend Saturday and Sunday. Normally I would just find a gym to hit before or after but it looks like this project is really crazy right now and the team is working 8:30am to almost midnight every night. Not sure how I am going to fit in any lifting during the week. I've been lifting 5 days a week for 8 years so I'm not too worried, my foundation is solid, but man it's going to mess with me sitting all week.

Listened to y’all and put the scale up atleast for a couple weeks. I know y’all said once a week but I gotta regain focus. Also haven’t been touching my phone while working out. I feel like I’m back in the game mentally.

still practicing my flex poses like y’all do. No I don’t have a 6 pack as we all know. Stretch marks are getting real lol and im feeling pretty good lately.

The dryness in california is brutal right now. Every time I touch the squat rack or the bar I get shocked. Trying to keep myself grounded with one body part in contact with it at all times

To the non jacked people or ones who struggle like I do, don’t give up. I was so focused on losing weight and abs that I never loved my body even after my weight loss. I never took time to just own it and be happy with the massive step I took. I kept telling myself that I was still slacking and fat (which I am) and behind. I have been working on it since the guys in here told me to just keep pushing and things are looking up. Just part of the ups and downs.

It’s dry as fuck in California right now (hence the state being on fire) static electricity builds up easier with the extremely low humidity. My squat rack and bar are made of metals. Metal is a conductor of electricity, and when I touch the rack or bar, my body discharges it’s built up static electricity to the metal and a shock occurs. To prevent this, I am keeping a hand or ankle or any skin I can touching the rack/bar to prevent a buildup or more static electricity and More shocking.

Holy shit lol. Living by the coast, I never realized that static could build up that bad. That’s insane man.

It’s dry as fuck with less than 20% humidity, even a mile from the beach. Lots of winds blowing from the east. October and November is typically the worst time for California. Always when the fires bust out too. Winds blow through the valleys where it’s really hot and then meets the coastal low temps and boom, you get lots of bad winds, low humidity, and fiiiiirrrrrreeeee

Man the past 2 weeks were hell I won’t lie but this week has been better for sure since yalls advice.

I’ve been told that natty thing before actually and man it tempts me to get serious and get a coach and see how big I can get (with a little juice after a while). But for real you and pack and a couple others have been the saving grace I’ve needed. Y’all are the only true fitness and bodybuilding people I know and it helps a ton.

I’m Not sure yet. Need to give it a little thought.

    what’s the method for this?

Opener- last warmup, easy money, something I can hit any given day in the gym. Get on the board for sure.

second- ??? Little more than half way between my opener and planned third?

third- assuming 2nd attempt is good, shoot for a very slight PR???

    Y’all help me with this.

First attempt is something you’ve hit before. Not a PR attempt, not even close. You’ll get a better feel for it when you do your test day soon. You’ll want to set 4 numbers. Your opener. Your 2nd attempt. Your 3rd attempt. And lastly, a “super” attempt. I’d go with a 6% increase between opener and 2nd. 6% increase between 2nd and 3rd. And 3% increase between 3rd and “super”. After your 2nd lift you make a call. You either go with your planned 3rd attempt or you are feeling good and you go for your super.

an example...you deadlifted 450x3 today...so your estimated 1RM would be around 475. Set your first attempt at 88%, 2nd attempt at 94%, and 3rd attempt at 100%. You’ll also have your “super” queued up at 103%.

    Training max - 475
    Attempt 1 - 88% - 418
    Attempt 2 - 94% - 446
    Attempt 3 - 100% - 475
    Super - 103% - 490

so after you hit 446, you walk off the platform and go to the table and either you’re fired up and you say 490 or you go conservative and go 475. Either way PR.

you’ll need to figure all this out in kilos tho...

Do you have someone handling you on meet day? I am easily psyched out so I never knew what weight was on the bar, and it helps that I can’t count in kilos. My coach would handle all the lifts and tell the judges what to load. All I had to do was wait for him to slap me on the back, pull my headphones out, and give me an ammonia to sniff and I’d go move whatever weight was waiting
