My wife has been pretty opposed to me drinking her milk once we have kids. Sounds like a money saver to me

Soak them overnight then blend them and strain it all through a cheese cloth. Repeat that about 5 times and you have a tiny amount of almond milk for a whole lot of time and effort.

Use a smart watch/fitness tracker for your running. It will track miles, pace, elevation, HR (included or with a chest strap). I use a garmin watch/activity tracker and i take screenshots of my running for quick access to view later, but its all stored in a dashboard so thats really overkill anyway. As for the weights thats up to you. 5x5stronglifts tracks my progress for me so thats nice, im sure there are other apps for that too.

    Gurl I’m workin on it!
I’m stashing cash to drop $600 on a Coros by Christmas.

I downloaded Fitnotes and am using that to track as I workout. Lets see if I’m competent enough to actually use it

By the way are you digging 5x5?
Ketogains recommends it. I may try it after my knee surgery.

At least post some pics of that watch when you get it.

I am digging 5x5, sadly I have only been able to do it 2x per week, not 3 like I would like to. I am still working at it and will do it today and friday. but then i go on a 3 day trip and wont be back at it until wednesday again. getting into a rhythm is hard with such an active life. but my body feels better after I do it, thats for sure.

I was checking out the whole keto thing and I think it sounds really neat but I am having a tough time wrapping my head around it with the impending deluge of holiday food fast approaching.

    Oh I will!

I want a lifting plan that really isn’t more than a 3 day a week commitment but is still effective. I need the 4 days a week dedicated to running.

Keto is going to be a journey if you want to do it as an athlete. Its not something you wake up and decide to do and can do it seamlessly. So much of the standard American diet is filled with carbs. It requires a whole mind set shift which is difficult.
That being said, when you do shift over, its great. Carbs are addictive and control so much of your mood and behavior. When you stop them your body will get pissed, but when its over you feel great. I really have no cravings for anything. In fact I almost have an aversion to them.

I would tell anyone to ease into it over time, do not go from 200-300g a day to 20g if you are an athlete and want to perform well in the gym. Transition slowly.

Like if you wanted to try it. Get rid of all your processed carbs in your daily life. Have those things you want for the holidays (but keep it to a few days). Then in Jan start. Like have 90% of the habits built between now and then.

Keto will make you realize you have to throw out a ton of spice mixes, nearly all of the sauces and salad dressings in the fridge, and most of what you think is low carb is not.
My husbands heart was broken when I told him watermelon is not really mostly water. It should be called sugarmelon.

    Its a journey.

But I’ve never felt better doing it though. I have incredible focus and alertness.

On a work trip for two days so I went to the local YMCA.... Holy crap was that a good time lol

Saw a dude in a tiny cutoff deadlifting 135lbs with a belt AND straps.... Then he picked up dumbbells and curled them using straps lmao.

This guy would not stop mean mugging me like he had something to prove, but whatever, I'm use to that. I just crack up so hard watching all these dudes walking around with their lifting belts on super tight for no reason.

After that a group of women came out of some spin class or something. Immediately, ever guy in the room starts lifting and showing off lmao. Three dudes ran over and grabbed dumbbells and start pumping out biceps while staring at these girls lol finniest shit I've seen in a while.

My favorite is the old guys walking around with weight belts on. Not one dead, not one squat, but they’ve got the belt

Think we need to start posting pics/vids if the dumbest shit we see in the gym.

I was hitting some snatch grip deads today. Old dude (wearing a belt) came up to me and told me I needed to narrow my grip to deadlift correctly.

My phone wouldn’t be able to handle the amount of video space required for the fuckery I see in the gym on the daily. I do send the worst of it through Snapchat to a few gym bros when I’m able to sneakily film it :spy:

    This thread moves fast o_O

I’m in diet mode. Back to keto myself, still eat about 30oz of veg per day between 10oz broccoli and 20oz cauliflower mashed potatoes. Have not take notice any blood BHB readings yet, but I can tell when I can get by with sub 2000 cals a day without hunger and have energy and focus I’m gtg. Gotta love that nice little 8lb water drop in a woolen weeks. Training has sucked between a wonky right shoulder and something lower back issues. Going to have to do some single leg stuff for awhile on legs, heavy squats and deads are no go. Working around shoulder hasn’t been too bad, avoiding low reps but it feels okay doing mid range reps after I’m warmed up. Hope everyone is killing it. :annoyed:

Thanks. I'll be working on the hip thing and it makes a lot of sense about walking out.

Did chest this morning and 185 moved good. How do you guys set up to lift heavier weights without a spotter? I get some guys that say they will show up but never do, but that does not kill my workout. I usually just lift without collars.

Until you have a really good feel for your fatigue point or don’t plan to leave a few reps in the tank bench in a squat rack with safeties set or use a random spotter as needed for your heavy sets. Even if you have a good feel for what you can handle a pec tear or injury mid rep could end badly with significant weight on the bar (not doing the roll of shame with 275-315). I never use collars on bench and you can dump it, but that’s a danger for everyone around because once you shake the plates on one side the other side plates come off in a hurry.

Squat rack is always free at my gym so I use its safety bar at a level that happens to be just right for me if I suck my gut in.

I thought about benching in the squat rack, but I don't want to be that guy. Although that would be the only way to do it safely without a spotter.

Does he scream on every rep too? Every time we go to this local LA Fitness there's a couple tool bags like that so we start screaming during sets totally making fun of them yet they're oblivious.
