It’s literally... hit a balloon in the air. Do push up. While other person hits the ballon. You get up from push up, hit it while they do push up, and repeat lmao

They really pay $180/month? It’s that expensive?

The power gym I just quit had one. It will help with your bench but that’s about it. It basically allows you to bench at a deficit as it puts the weight lower to the floor (giving you more ROM at your shoulder) when it’s on your chest. It’s also a much thicker bar, so it will help your grip. I’ve seen people squat with it as well, but I don’t see the point of that. If you want to use a specialty bar with squatting just use a SSB

The unlimited membership is $179 month. If you only do crossfit classes its like $149.

I think the rationale is you're getting daily classes for that $$.

The gym near me is $130/mo.

People need to calm down. Thats not that expensive for a gym with coaches on staff, someone who sets up your equipment for you, nutritionists, trainers, 2 DEXA scans a year, and plenty of professional equipment.

People piss away more than $130/mo eating out or random bullshit consumption spending. I think a gym is money better spent.

Part of my frustration is its literally my only option for a gym better than LA. There are no strength gyms near me that are just open gyms, they are all private gyms that require you to use their trainers.... which is more expensive than a Crossfit gym.

The crossfit gym monthly rate in the town I live is 245 if you pay month to month. 205 if you sign up for 6 months. 195 for the year

Cause they are paying to be part of a brand. Its like wearing name brand clothing. People will pay a lot just to feel like they are part of something "cool". What's worse is probably 50% of the people who pay that monthly don't even show up. the put the CrossFit sticker on their car then go to one class a week... There are maybe 10 people at this gym that are actually in CrossFit shape and take it very seriously, and I give them major props. However, most of those 10 fit people don't do these classes, they have separate programming coaches and they just come here to workout.

Also you have to pay $299 for the 4 week on-ramp class before you can actually start going to real CrossFit classes....

Honestly its one of the best business models out there and a great way to make money of people looking for acceptance and inclusiveness.

I think the rates match the COL of the area.

    Damn!

I pay $58 cad per month for a regular gym. No classes or trainers unless you pay extra. I think that's high enough.

I sincerely hope you do buddy.
It’s much easier on your shoulders when squatting. Great for people like me who have terrible shoulder mobility.

To be clear: I don't knock anyone who does CrossFit and takes it seriously. To each their own. I knock the people who barely show up, pay out the ass, and act like they are better than me cause they "do CrossFit" as if it is some kind of end all be all fitness, and just being a part of it makes you fit.

I pay $30/mo for Lifetime. I used to also pay $60/mo for the power gym which was “unlimited” and then I downgraded to $25/mo for 5 visits per month and then just cut it. I’m looking at joining another “commercial” gym (fitness connection) in the new year that’s closer to my new office but it’s only $10/mo. I’m just waiting for them to do a New Year New Me promotion for the new year and waive their sign up fee ($80)

At least I won’t knock it till I try it.

But thats literally every gym in America LOL.

A friend of mine is a member and offered to get me in for a free week of classes. As soon as I recover from surgery I’ll try it out, see how I like it.
Fuck at this point I’m ok with spending $130 if I can be part of a gym where dickheads don’t hog squat racks to do bicep curls and I don’t have a meathead cult around me and halfway decent equipment.
