That was done today after work with no rest between anything. We have swat tryouts coming up which is sub 8 minute mile, 40 sit-ups, 40 pushups and 4 pull-ups for the minimum. Good to know that after neglecting cardio and body weight stuff for a while hasn’t killed me. Had a good leg pump after the runs.

Haha. I don’t mind running if I’m in running shape. However I am far from it so it sucks. Getting 230lb to move fast doesn’t feel so hot.

If it makes you feel better I’m 155lbs and could probably complete a 5k at that pace.
    Not bad for your weight.

Tks for this, including all the detail. Cardio for me is more for heart health and hunting. The races are to give me a goal and make me push forward, not kinda piddle around with a jog here and there.

I'll probably trail run in the summer and fall here too. Should be fun. Good point about the shoes.

Saw the PT today about my shoulder. It doesn't appear to be serious but is taking time to heal. Doesn't seem to be any tendons or ligaments. Looks like the front delt. He gave me homework and expects it to be better in maybe 3 weeks.

    No problem.
If you like to hunt I think you may find trail running pretty fun.
I’ve done a few 5ks, 15ks, and two 16 mile trail races. They were all more like “well groomed grass path” type runs so I actually never cared for them. Once I started running on the courses some of the local ultras are on that are much more technical it was a lot more fun (even if its harder than hell). Its nice to be out in the woods running around jumping over stuff.
If you ever want to do any reading about running training methods anything written by Matt Fitzgerald is pretty much gold. I just got done reading his 80/20 running which is very good.

Glad you got the shoulder looked at and have a plan moving forward. Hopefully it heals up quickly.

    You’ve never done that?

I like to sneak up on deer, jump on their back and stab them in the kidneys.

It ruins less meat that way.

Hey, elk hunting can be an intense sport. Sometimes you have to sprint to position yourself.
