The hard part is the flip from the belly to chest. Like the flipping your hand to get it ready to press.

Don't do mixed grip unless you have to. If you wear a thick belt you can clean it up just above the belt and it'll rest there, then switch grip (if mixed) and bounce it to your chest/rack position.

Whatever you do just make sure you train the same way everytime regardless of weight. So if you wear sleeves/belt/wrist wraps, use them on warmup through top set. And, do the same clean process regardless of weight so you build a solid routine on cleaning it up your body.

I think double over hand would be easier but I watched Brian alsrhure or whatever video on YouTube and he said double over hand only works on light weight so to just get used to mixed grip from the beginning. I really have no idea. It’s just a awkward lift lol. I can do 150 easily. That 185-200 is the killer but I’m not gonna hurt myself the first time and if it’s my weak point in the competition then I’ll just pick up the slack somewhere else.

Meh, I can double overhand like 400lb to my belly so it doesn't bother me worrying about mixed grip lol

I’ll try it in a few days again. I’m not dumb and do realize I can actually get hurt if I try too hard or too much with some of the movements in this strongman stuff so I’m not trying to force anything. I just don’t have a big gut so leaning all the way back makes it hard to get the weight up to my shoulders to press it. It is time to get real gear like elbow and knee sleeves and a real belt :anonymous:

Two guys at this comp had such big power bellies that they hit the bottom with the bar and had to start over lmao

But yeah good thing being smart. Mixed grip axle is a good way to tear biceps, one of the many implements that can do that in strongman.

Pretty excited to see the increase in consistency the past 2 weeks.

And happy with the overall bump in numbers, as a side note 1 visit to the gym can be 3-4 workouts depending on what I do as I create a new track for bike, treadmill, circuit/weights, and stair machine, so my gym visits are typically 30-60 minutes.

Oh, and I hit a new PR on the seated row of 120x15 as well as 135x15 for leg press.
