 it’s not that hard to not swing. Do em sitting down or even against a wall. You’d have to do like 40 reps to get a pump with 20lb-ers

There is basically no point in doing heavy bicep work if you just want nice looking biceps.

Only reason I do heavy bicep work is because strongman is a VERY heavy bicep sport.

I do 3-5 sets of DB curls at the end of my back/bicep day with 20lb DBs. I do giant sets of supinated, hammer, and cross-body hammers. 8 reps each, so a set is 24 reps. If you really want a pump, hold your breath the whole time and watch the veins bulge

There’s no reason to go any heavier. You can’t change my mind, even if you are 13% bf

You swinging around 60lb dumbbells is equivalent to me swinging around 20lb dumbbells though

So what is “heavy” bicep work is relative to your overall strength.

I see no one my size lugging around 50lb dumbbells properly.

I think compound lifts work your biceps the majority they need to be worked and bicep and tricep specific work is really just accessory work. Your big lifts are just massive making your accessory work massive.

My bicep accessory heavy day starts with lighter seated curls, then hammer curls at around 75-80lbs, EZ bar curls around 135-145lb with cheat curls on the last 2-3, then I will do Zottman curls light at 25lbs. I usually only do 2 or 3 bicep specific lifts though. Same for tricep, lots of heavy press downs, extensions, and skull crushers, since a lot of over head pressing in strongman uses tricep extension.

I have never done this heavy of bicep work... With strongman so many lifts use biceps so you kinda have to train them heavy. Basically any pick and carry event requires using biceps to help pick it up off the ground and then using your arms as hooks to keep the stone/implement up on your chest.

If I wasn't training strongman I wouldn't be doing over 45lb curls for reps lol

Reg Park beginner plan has me doing barbell curls and I cant do them with a 45lb bar so I use the Rogue Bella bar which is 15kg (~33lb). Its still tough for me to even get two sets of 10 with that weight at the end of my workout when i do the BB curls.

I can do 0lb barbell curls.

I have no idea how people can bicep curl a straight bar. Its incredibly painful.

Its not painful for me as i already follow @Travish325 and others advice by completing them braced with a proud chest and elbows pinned at my side, trying to fix everything but allow movement of my hands and forearms for max bicep isolation.

Im the most stoked, that i could do a trio of (almost deadhang) chinups yesterday. I am excited to maybe be able to start doing chinups on park chinup bars or anywhere else I can get my grip around enough to do it. Yup, im going to be "that" person, and I dont care haha.

There is no way for me to do them comfortably. Form is irrelevant to pain. Its forcing my bones to move in ways they physically are unable.

I can only use EZ bars or dumbbells.

What do you think of the Bike compared to something like an Airbike/Echo Bike? I have some experience with the Echo Bike but nothing with the BikeErg. I am trying to decide on a piece of conditioning equipment to pick up when I make my home gym order next month.

They're completely different machines. I owned both when I had my gym. The resistance provided by the C2 is smooth and constant. It doesn't matter how much effort yo apply, it doesn't get any easier. Also, the fixed handle bars don't allow you to involve your upper body. I think the C2 is best for longer aerobic sessions.

An air dyne or echo bike is the nastiest piece of conditioning equipment ever invented. Man, I used to love/hate them when I was into CF. You can ride them slow and have a nice long aerobic session, or you can really push it and turn it into an all out sprint that'll leave you crumpled in a pile in the floor. Brutal. The way the fans on these bikes work allows you to kind of get a break after you push hard for a couple strokes until the fans slows down again. So, a few seconds of hard work is followed by a few seconds of easier work.

I prefer fan bikes all day, but I guess it comes down to how you use them.

I’m able to sit on the edge of my bed and let both legs hang at 90 degrees. Still can’t forcefully bend the knee to 90 yet but getting there.

I was also able to put on and lace up my own shoes today.

This surgery has been the worst one so far. Its been horribly painful. I was kind of starting to freak out about what I got myself into but its uplifting to be making pretty good progress so fast.
