My ups guys was actually really cool when I ordered my stuff. 800lbs in plates, rack, bar and bench. Was a workout in itself getting it all downstairs and setup.

I helped my guy unload. Had about 500lbs of plates in one order. He was using a dolly and I was just grabbing boxes

I really hate your deadlift stance. You look uncomfortable and like you’re forcing yourself into that position because that’s how most strongmen pull. You’re skinny, pull like it. Narrow your feet and definitely narrow your grip, load your hammies and pull.

I just watched a video of martins licis pull and his grip and stance are narrower than yours.

It was a snatch grip workout intentionally. I don’t pull like that normally lol.

And I thought deadlifts are supposed to be uncomfortable. If you’re comfortable then you’re doing em wromg, no? That’s what all the major lifters say.

thank god. Lol. Snatch grip stuff you should sill have your feet normal width apart though. Normal stance and you should pull the same way, just a wider grip.

I thought you were just trying to do that weird bullshit that Thor and the huge guys do where they hold the bar super far out and pull with a squat stance.

Martins has a supper narrow stance, almost like an Olympic lifter on his snatch grip pulls, especially from the ground. But he also has hip issues/pain so he does them to isolate hip hinge, or at least that's what he told me.... When doing those from the ground you almost have to be narrow to be able to bend over far enough and still properly use your legs to drive. However, on an elevated pull, especially 18in, a wider stance is better as it is a completely different style of pull. Elevated pulls will always look unnatural compared to from the ground, but its just #strongmanthings I guess.

I have only have done them when doing Dimitry Klokov's training for Olympic lifts.

They do that cause the are so wide lol Even my grip is considered "wide" to most but its the only way I can pull and not stand way in front or behind of the bar.

That’s where the skinny comment came in. There’s no reason for him to pull like that, he’s not your size or bigger where you have to. Lol. But it is interesting when you look at strongmen deadlifts vs. SHW powerlifter deadlifts. The SHW power lifters struggle with deads and I think it’s because they force themselves to stay narrow vs their stance and grip widening with the rest of their body.

Someone my size or Kase’s size has no business setting up like that.

What’re the strongman rules on sumo?

See, if you were female you'd not have this problem like the rest of us.

    Strongman doesn't allow sumo.

    BUT

It does allow hitching, which I absolutely hate and refuse to do.

EDIT: on his stance though.. for elevated its fine. Like I said its completely different and the setup/pull are way different.

    Start of normal for me:Screenshot_20200305-082441~2.jpg

    Lockout normal:
    Screenshot_20200305-082531~2.jpg

    Vs 18in:Screenshot_20200305-082801~2.jpg
    Screenshot_20200305-082651~2.jpg

I'm still back and forth on my standard deadlift stance. This standard was from yesterday and I tried a little narrower which felt ok, but I have yet to pull anything real heavy this way. If I go too wide on my stance I can't get good hamstring drive. I do like a wider grip though since my arms are so long.

I'm pretty solid on 18in pulls now but I still hate them. My standard deadlift is almost more than my 18... Which is not normal lol

On 18 you have to sit over the bar more and then lean back and drive your legs down. It sucks more for me because I'm tall, so my ROM is still more than your average sumo puller:p

Thor's Power program has snatch grip pulls and I absolutely hate them. It's the only exercise that seems to irritate my hip post surgery so I cut them out and just did normal pulls. I would still set up same feet distance wise, like Kerley said. Just do a wider grip. Either way, they suck. But I thought we've already discussed this. No one should be dead lifting at all. It's bad for your back.

...While we're on the topic, watch the back leaving the bench
