The pit boss ones are supposed to be pretty good actually. And yes, most don’t have WiFi so you just go press the buttons. It depends on the model you have and outside temps. I’d say mine takes maybe 5-10 mins to get to 150* which is the startup mode for most of them. Then you set to whatever temp after. I usually give it 20 mins to stabilize at whatever temp I set to. So I use that time to prep my meat

Buy the cheapest weber kettle you find and a themometer. Build skills and learn how to control fire like a caveman....seriously, I have cooked on a tonne of rigs including the fancy 10k restaurant machines, epic competition pellet smokers, Big Green Eggs (my fave) and currrently a $100 Weber Kettle...I have made amazing stuff on all of them. The main difference between pellet grills and the others is that you can set it and walk away and not have to think about it. But where is the fun in that? They are the automatic transmission of grilling :crapstorm::crapstorm::crapstorm:

You are absolutely correct when it comes to learning how to smoke like a pro. My problem is I really do not care to do things that well.

I still have yet to do a brisket because I am not getting up at 2am for dat shit. Then I have to sit outside all day monitoring the temp... and the issue isn’t so much that but staying sober enough to do it.

I want to set and forget.

I honestly don’t have the time to dedicate to smoking. I do now but normally when I’m working two jobs and training I don’t have 12 hours for cooking lol

My ultra was officially cancelled. I feel bad for being grateful an injury prevented me from participating anyways lol

I would have been so mad if I hustled to be ready and it was a no go.

Going for a road marathon in the fall. Training starts June 28.

Got a Boston butt in mine right now. Don’t even have to go out to check the temp.

Bruh the WiFi is great though. I get to get hammered and not worry about fucking up the cook while “having to watch the bbq” still. It’s great.

Still managed 225x10 on bench today. Considering I haven’t benched in 6 weeks and am down to an all time low BW I’m pretty pleased. Shoulder pinch was still there but not nearly as bad, not noticeable at all until I broke form. Been taking it relatively easy this week to see how my hip responded. Squats and deadlifts were pain free so I’m giving myself the go ahead to start a new power program on Monday :muscleflexing:

Yes. And there is a reason I pick ortho surgeons who only work on a specific body part (feet, shoulders, knees). These guys are SMEs and do the best job.

I’m very very very lucky too. My surgeon has done over 100 of these surgeries (its not super common). He said I’m only the second male hes operated on for it.
I asked my PT why its a usually female injury and he said usually because men are heavier and tear it during more violent movements so the whole meniscus gets crushed and torn.
I’m very lucky I will be 100% with no restrictions after all this. Most would be looking at 50% function and a guaranteed total knee replacement.

I’m fortunate to be able to continue all the sports I love.

Of the surgeries I’ve had the only things I can’t do are chest dips or low bar squats. Pretty fucking incredible.
