For performance (as opposed to aesthetic) you want to end you cut 4-6 weeks prior to competition MINIMUM. If you are cutting down to comp time you are coming in week.

Cut down with plenty of time, then maintain and come into the comp strong

 

Just do your comp and see how it feels. You gotta know your body and go off that. I will never have to cut because I'll never be 231... My lean body mass is almost 231 lmao but then again I don't like being 300+ for very long. Right now I'm most competitive staying 280-295 and going against the 330+ guys because I am more athletic and agile.

Gotta know your strengths

 

That's why you do water cut last minute, weigh in early then have a full 24hrs to hydrate and refeed. It's what everyone does in strength sports when trying to hit a lower weight class.

 

I would crush it in a lower weight class but I don’t wanna be that small and the options for that in strongman sucks.

as long as your not getting down to bodybuilding levels generally the leaner the better. You’ll just be able to pack on more muscle for your weight class.

PS I saw you say something about lose fat while building muscle thing. Don’t even bother unless you are new to lifting or on gear. Pick a goal, get leaner while maintaining muscle, or build muscle while minimizing fat gain (and you will gain fat) and stick with it. Being focused you’ll be much more successful

Also.... Small is subjective lol to me even at 231 you're small

 

@weldertaco you insisted on signing up for the novice class so you don’t have to worry about weight.
Even if they put weight classes in the novice class you wouldn’t benefit from trying to manipulate your weight. Nobody from novice quailifies for anything.
Have fun and worry about weight next time.

Yes but I signed up for the Open class. Not novice. Because this shit has been pretty easy for me and I wanna compete with beast.

200.4 class since it will take me years to get up to the 231 class with size and strength

Goes like this Middle Weight Men -----------------MWM 175.5 – 231.4 -- 2 sub division (175.5 – 200.4# and 200.5# - 231.4#)

You may win that sub class but unless you beat the top overall 231s you won't win the show or the overall.

Lightweight has subclasses as well with the overall and heaviest being 175. If I were you I'd do this show up MW then drop a little and do a water cut close to the next show as a 175 LW

Shirtless cause I’m too cheap to have a grip shirt and skin works awesome. Husafel (275lbs) for cardio. Towards the end, the music got quieter in my head lol. Dropped the weight and could hear the music clear again. Never experienced that before
