The RDL stuff still feels in my lower back some. Gonna have to try out the single leg leg press. These hammies need to start getting a piece. I think they’re part of my struggle with stones. No hamstring power for the “pop” out of the hole.

I would start with single leg swiss ball hamstring bridge curls before moving into heavy work on RLDL or GHR.

You don't even know about quad gains struggles, aight?

The only tricks I use with hams, and it pretty much only works on isolation movements like curls, is point your toes if you want the distal belly of the muscle firing. So many compound movements work the whole ham or the more proximal hamstring due to the hinge movement.

If you are feeling like a challenge you can also go for Nordic Curls.

As much running as you do, you don’t have built legs?

That's cause you're loading your lower back and not your hamstrings. Before you lift, grab the bar and turn your elbows inward HARD and really flex your triceps and upper back. That will help keep tension in your lats and not load you lower back as much.

You may also be going too heavy for your hamstrings...so your back takes over for efficiency. Try lower weight until they catch up maybe.

    Hey, don't we all?

Most runners are skinny as shit. I'm pretty built for a runner, but a skinny fuck compared to the strong men and bodybuilders on here.

I will say trail running has primarily built my calves and shins. If you want big quads and hams you gotta lift. I guess it's akin to picking up 5lb dumbells and doing 40,000 reps vs. picking up 40s and doing 8 reps LOL

I relate..you might remember my knee issues a few years ago. Mentally it took me a lot of time to get to removing the wrap and even walking around my house without feeling like I was going to fall on my face.

I'm all for toughing it out in some ways in life but not if I don't have to. I went without getting cortisone shots etc in my knee a while back because I couldn't risk not being able to drive due to taking care of my father in law plus my wife having shoulder surgery. Not ideal but I was the one of the 3 of us who could postpone stuff

I been working on it. Doing 35lb kettle bells and I’m like “I’m supposed to be feeling this but I’m really not”.

Try warming up with the isolation work I mentioned. It's an old BBer technique called prefatiguing that aims to get the primary movers firing so that the accessory muscled don't take over....so for a guy who is tri/delt dominant on BP, he'd warm up with 3 sets of 10 flyes...just to get that connection and make sure things are firing.

Gotcha gotcha. Gonna have to give that a shot. I understand ya there though. I’m shoulder dominant so never really felt flat bench in my chest.

For strongman it doesn't matter as much, as you are focused on efficiency, that said it will matter eventually if a body part is lagging and it will cost you either in injury or being suboptimal re: your potential.

I think it’s costing me on squats, stones, and sandbag/keg tosses. I need that “explosion” from the posterior chain for certain lifts so I need them to start working.
