Hey... if I had to, I would.
I bow hunt, I could definitely pull some Katniss Everdeen shit if I needed to.

By the way, if you have never heard of the Barkley Marathons, look it up. That's like some shit I can totally see required in a future race as something you have to do before you complete your final lap. Kill an animal and make that shit into a hat before you finish.

15 pounds in 8 weeks is doable easily, going slower would be optimal for muscle retention but you know what your goals are.

    That's how I feel.

I just want the weight off ASAP so I'm not running a caloric deficit in my training cycle when I'm trying to go for increased performance.

Mass loss should be at a minimum because of protein and lifting, but even if I lost some, that's a compromise I'm willing to make.

That's definitely doable. I dropped about 25 in that time, though in fairness I was probably much more out of shape and doing a lot worse shit prior than your current place.

Just by cutting out beer I'm pretty sure I could drop 10lbs in two weeks LOL.

I dropped 15lbs in 2 weeks with COVID and I didn't wither away and die. So I'll be good ;)

Try going from drinking 3 bottles of Mountain Dew a day to none. That was my worst habit a few years ago.

@PackCon with your multitude of interests and concurrent goals, it sounds like you would benefit from daily undulating periodization (DUP) structured training; depending on how much lifting you want to fit in there of course

Sounds like you know enough to stop asking the internet and just get down to doing it...I still say that a 1500Kcal deficit is a drastic place to start....unless your BMR is absurdly high, but you know your body better than anyone else so get after it.

No one is saying you have to look any certain way or be in any certain shape man, you asked about specific things, you got a response to that. No need to be thirsty on here man, it's an anonymous truck forum. Live your best life, be your happiest self, do the shit that makes you feel alive. I mean that man, I hope the ultra season and climbing go amazing man.

No. Mentally, I want to. And I want to give strongman my all and be a legit competitor one day. But I’m getting burned out and not enjoying it anymore. I’m getting no sleep and no time with my little man and it’s just starting to be too much with my work/life schedule. I’m debating on just dropping my coaching and competitions planned and just workout whenever I can rather than trying to be competitive in it

1 hour is just the drive to and from the gym. Then when doing 80-90% lifts, it takes a little bit of time to warm up to get ready for the heavier sets, and If the gym Is crowded then you gotta add in the wait time for a rack/platform as well

I'm genuinely curious about this and looking into it. Although I have so say so far it's harder than hell to understand lol.

Hey don't get me wrong, I'm genuinely curious about other people's experience and I'm curious about certain aspects of training for certain sports.

I like the discussion and I'm always down to learn something new.

When it comes to advice specific for me I need more than just the standard, eat right, lift regularly stuff. That shit is common sense. I need more help blending programs and periodizing training appropriately.

I was being facetious with the 1500 cal deficit question lol ;) I know its about a pound a week greater than ideal.

I totally get the burn out from that time commitment. If I had a non-work from home job and no at home workout equipment I don't think I'd train to the level that I have been.

Got rid of my treadmill before I moved and upgraded with the new fancy one and just being without for a couple weeks fucking sucks. I run in the AM lift in the PM. If the weather blows in the morning I am not going to the gym. It takes too much time to prep to go out and be around people, then get to the gym, then run, then come home. Yeah fuck that. I just lost an extra 1.5 hours of my life when I could just walk downstairs and be running on the TM in zero extra time.

I've never been much of a lifter from home but I'm starting to appreciate the value of having equipment at home and understand why people go for that. Money and space in a house doesn't grow on trees though.

When you have no commute to work or your gym, that truly is priceless in terms of the amount of time it saves. I totally get why it's too much for a family guy. You are really spending 3 times as much time away from home as is needed and that just sucks.
