    I'm fairweather.

Summers - Lunch at work cafeteria, go home, run/walk/kayak/bike, mow the lawn, etc, suddenly it's 8:30 and I'm just going to shower and conk out.

Winters - Lunch at work cafeteria (or at home, that's a wash either way though), then go home annnnnd it's cold and dark at 4:45..... so, not only am I losing the benefit of activity, now I am adding in "Oh I guess I'll make a big pasta dinner, it's cold" - so I am adding food and removing exercise :spy: wasn't a great winter this year, but now I know to watch for it and try to keep myself in check.

PS if you or anyone is open to new calorie/tracking apps, I use cronometer (that screenshot is from it). Really like it for what it gives me free.

It's hard going to work in the dark and getting home in the dark, tough to keep the motivation through all that and still cook a healthy (sometimes worse tasting) meal. I totally get that

I use myfitnesspal, no real reason other than it's what I've used for years and is free! Not against trying cronometer

I used MFP for a while, ended up switching to Cronometer when MFP threw the barcode scanner behind a paywall. I use strava instead of Map My Ride now, too, since it's one app instead of "Map My Run", "Map My Ride", "Map My Walk", etc all being their own thing.

Started back in the gym last August after using my 40's to get fat and out of shape. Doing weights and working with a personal trainer, down 22lbs so far. More importantly, I feel so much better.
Glad I found this thread and good to hear success stories.

Have not stopped hitting the gym in 29 years. It is a lifestyle. Marathon not a sprint. You can always make an excuse not to exercise. 46 years old with young kids, etc.. I shifted to lunch break workouts. Injuries are not an excuse. Time is not an excuse. The desire does have to be there. Exercise is the fountain of youth! Keep at it all!
    Be well :)

Man... I lost my love for it. I hit some lifts I wanted to hit, competed some, but eventually it got to the point where I don't enjoy the gym anymore. It's been a weird on off relationship. Like I haven't been in 2 months now. I don't get excited to lift like I used to. Haven't really felt the joy from it in a couple years. Not sure if it's cause I've always worked out alone, or just went so hard tbat I burned myself out of it, or maybe I just didn't ever love it as much as I thought I did in the first place.

but long story short no lol. I swear if I had more free time I could find my love for the gym again. After having kids, wife, main job, and side hustle I'm left pretty much running on E. My inner thoughts say if I didn't work as much I wouldn't be so burned out and would enjoy lifting again. But my heart says it's just not in it anymore

A lighter bodybuilding routine might be good? Getting pumped unlocks the magic most of the time!

Age is catching up to me with injuries but despite it, I still wanna lift weights. I just wait patiently to heal while I do alternatives for now. But even for prolonged injuries, the desire has never waivered.

I fell off the consistency wagon almost 10 years ago despite investing in a rogue rack/rower/plyo box for the garage last summer. I'll go through stretches of a few weeks of being consistent, but then fall off the wagon. Rotating shift work is brutal and mostly just me being lazy. My dumbass chooses call of duty over the weights, but that's changing asap along with actually eating more to put weight on. I really enjoy the basics of squat/DL/bench/OHP/spullups/barbell rows. with that said, a 5x5 routine for a year is the goal to see where i'm at and then re-evaluate. Jump rope and rowing will be my cardio

It’s an extraction-style game mode of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. Myself and a select bunch of people still enjoy playing it.

:anonymous: My dumbass thought you were talking about something fitness related.

No I never got into DMZ. Ranked play only for me.

Haha No. I won’t go on too long about it as this is a fitness thread but…

Give DMZ a try…. It’s pretty fun. Not your typical run & gun cod. I guess that’s why I like it. It’s pretty unique.

    Life is a balance.
    You. Wife. Kids. Job. Responsibilities.
All of it is a constant rebalance.

Do what you need. Then do what brings you joy. Fuck the rest.

I'm fat and lazy now. I need to hit the rebalance button on my priorities haha.

I'm trying to hit that rebalance button too. I have a one year old kiddo now and man, have I been working on my dad bod this last year. Time to make time to work out more again because being more fit means keeping up with my kid and that what's important to me now.
