That sucks! Everyone is getting sick. Hubs and I got horribly ill this summer after traveling but that was likely the Luenza.

There is shit going around everywhere like wildfire. Get better soon and everyone stay safe!

Theres no issues with the location. Electrical needs to be set up particularly. I had the pros do that.

We have a list of improvements this next year as well. The house is mostly all newly renovated prior to us buying it but it still has carpet.

Do you guys get hand cramping when you lift?
And by that I mean bad enough where your fingers get contorted.

I used to. Stopped consuming any type of seed oils and now don’t have any more hand/joint cramps or pain. This was the main fix.

Also upped water intake, stopped eating vegetables, introduced 5g of creatine a day, and moved to a carnivore + fruit diet.

Yea sometimes after deadlifts or pull day my fingers will get stuck basically. My grip strength isnt terrible but I'm also considering getting some straps because my legs/back muscles are all way stronger than my grip strength can manage now. I've also had my toes cramp after my leg days.

Injection in my knee monday so now its bulk time! I'm 156 dry right now. Makes running/jogging 10+ miles a shift at work so much easier though. Think I'm around 12% bf and able to maintain that eating clean but not counting cals.

Feels kinda cool to be able to rep 80lb dumbell press for 7-8 @ 156 then go deadlift 315 for 3 then do 5 muscle ups in a row. Very balanced point for my body shape/dimensions but I'm getting bored. Want to go heavy lifts again

Think by Dec 30 if I start bulking now I can hit 170 ( aiming for a more lean calculated bulk this time around) and want to be able to squat 315 for 3 Deadlift 385 for 3, and still do at least 1 true form Muscle up

It was for me last winter 100%. Went from 152 to 188 from Aug 1 to Dec 30. Was the first time I ever got over 165 pounds in my life. And I still have 90% of the strength from 188 currently at 156. I’m very much a hard gainer + I do so much running & cardio activities. This time target cals will be roughly 3000. Last time was 4250

Creatine, 1 gram of protein per lb of body weight, minimum 1.25 gallons of water a day should you good. But if you gained 30 lbs last year, I'm probably just offering unsolicited advice

I see @PackCon is still in here annoying these weightlifters with his talk of running. What's that term,... passive-aggressive behavior :D

Old guy here: 67 YO, bradycardic, lifer at distance running. I am finally ALMOST recovered from breaking my ankle last Nov in a non-running related injury. Since early Sept, I've been running 3-5 miles at a time and it's holding up okay. I'm going to keep increasing gradually over the Winter. I've been lifting quite often and am also going to add some muscle this year. Nothing drastic but goal is 15 lbs by Summer. Too much will slow me down.

Never have seen a cardiologist as my PCP has been on me about for several years due to resting heart rate around 40 bpm. She's probably gonna threaten to dump me Apr 2025 when I show for my annual and don't have a pacemaker. :smack: As long as I'm only in reasonable cardio condition I don't need one. It's only when I get myself in race shape that the arrythmia kicks in.

Anyway, just letting you guys know there are some old guys still kicking it with the running. Stay active and stay alive!

Glad to hear the ankle is doing well!
    Did your PCP do anEKG?
I still think shes stepping outside her scope of practice to say you need a pace maker.
Don’t be afraid of the cardiologist. They make yiu run on a treadmill :)
People with strong hearts will notice palpitations more.

I have not run in almost 2 years now. Im right at this point now I may try it again but I’m scared of the pain it may cause so Im trying to get up to walking 5-7 miles a day first. Also trying some power hiking.

Dealing with a still undiagnosed neurological issue. I run maybe a quarter mile to half mile and my muscles in my feet and ankles sease up. Almost like a intense muscle burn when you lift to failure. So if I kept running Id just trip and fall (Ive tried).

I went from bad limping from pain in both my legs to over time being able to walk normal. Limping so bad I looked like a newborn girraffe.

Its breaking my heart though. Almost litterally. My BP is going up. I just want to be me again. Id actually give anything to just be able to run again for one day.

I believe I will get there again its just going to take time and patience.

Sorry to hear the bad news. Man, I sure hope you get it sorted out.

My PCP is saying that is a possible outcome. She's trying to push me forward off my stubborn, old butt and I am pessimistically thinking the worst.

She did do an EKG 2 years ago and it wasn't completely normal. Feedback was "sinus bradycardia at 37 bpm, inverted T-waves in precordial leads".

I did "the treadmill test" back in my 30's. I was having chest pains. Likely was stress, as only a slightly enlarged heart was diagnosed at that time. Doctor attributed it to running.

I'm going to go sometime this Winter but haven't got an appt yet... famous last words!

I have the sudden urge to do a spartan race. I’m pretty confident I could walk on up and do the beast without a ton of difficulty just based on the shape I’m in now

Long shot but has anyone used both the mono-rail A1 WaterRower AND any other dual-rail model WaterRower?

I like the wider foot position of the mono, but have been told the dual is way more quiet.

Is the sound difference really that noticeable?

I’m slowing building up a mini-gym in my basement for our harsh winters (garage is too brutal for this wuss when it’s 40 below) and peeps are sleeping when I work out.

Thanks for any help, my cable machine and bench are on the way, rower is replacing treadmill/bike for its size and variety to the garage :)

I can't speak to the WaterRower brand, but I have a First Degree fitness Apollo Pro V Reserve for a couple years now and I love it. It has adjustable resistance. I didn't think I would like the dual rail wood vs the single metal, but it is very smooth and quiet and I think the wood really helps dampen the whole movement and makes for a really enjoyable experience.
Also, the US importer occasionally runs sales, and when I was getting mine, I had recently missed one so I emailed them and they sent me a code for a very good discount.
I do need to figure out a tablet mount for it though, only drawback I've had. Looks like they only have a couple models in stock at the moment, but I would highly recommend the brand.

Look nice, other than mostly sold out, right now the WaterRower is $999 so just trying to figure out if the dual rail is really any more quiet or if it’s something people mention but it’s nominal. I’m leaning mono-rail simply for the wider foot position, noise or not, but with a newborn and an excitable Lab in the house it doesn’t hurt to ask haha. Thanks for the link! I’ll research them.
