Honestly since you are trying to lean out I'd just get P90x and call it a day. It's a good program for fat loss but by no means is it a mass gainer.

you can work out all you want in an attempt to "lean out" but if your diet isnt consistent or on spot, you will fail....

Death by (insert workout), Tabatas of (insert workout), sprints, burpees, handstand push-ups, walking lunges, normal push-ups. Find something sturdy and do pull-ups from it, find some heavy nature shit and lift, throw, carry it, etc... Be creative
Might as well get over the fact that you're going to loose muscle and strength and accept it. Then use this opportunity to work on mobility, speed, and lean out.
Of course diet will play a big part in this too as previously said.

2 months isn't that bad. Where are you off to?

Update. 5x5's are going well. Weights are rising. Squats are getting harder but i noticed i havent been really sore the day after workouts (or even all week) Am i not lifting heavy enough? 5 reps seems like its not enough... I want to get bigger!!!!

Ive gained about 5lbs in the last two weeks too

    Here is my workout:

    A: Front free Squat
    Bench Press
    Weighted chest dips
    Bent over rows

    B: Front free Squat
    Overhead press
    Weighted pullups
    Deadlifts

Nice man! since you are just starting to lift heavy most of your gains will be CNS. you are pretty much training your muscle memory to handle heavy weights. 5 reps is plenty to build muscle, because when you do 5 reps your weight should be really heavy, im talking about 80%max effort. you will activate your slow twitch muscle, TYPE 1(activated mostly during high reps) first, when your slow twitch muscle can't handle it you will activate fast twitch muscle fiber TYPE 2, which is the muscle that contains your true strength, this is the muscle powerlifter lift for. when it comes to the end, if you wanna be big, you gotta lift heavy and hard if you are not sore that's fine if you are an advance lifter but for beginner, that just means you are not lifting heavy enough.

Anyone have a good workout for not bulking but more cutting that has worked for you. I am boxing again at the 166 lbs range so I need to drop another 5 lbs or so walking.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Never seen a fat BJJ'er aside from a few white belts that come in once every two weeks.

Ya I have had 2 stripes and went on and off for a while. Loved it, just never had enough spare time to continuously go with the random OT we get offered at work. Would love to start again though. I trained under TJ Grant years ago, now hes in the UFC

Never been a fan of it. Maybe thats cause i havent gotten good at it... Also my gym doesnt have a proper squat rack. Do you suggest i do more back squats than front squats?

Yes, back squat is the foundation of muscle building, Front squat is more quad dominant, while back squat works everything including your core and back. What do you mean by a non proper squat rack?

I understand. I am at a Arthur Ruffhouse affiliated gym. I like the physical aspect but also meeting new key people is key for me too since I don't know anyone around here.

We just have a smith machine and i dont like using that for squats. I really like the squat rack at the other gym but i dont go there very often.

yeah that sucks man, i often feel sorry for those who can't or don't do leg days or back squats. its one of the best feeling in the world. and the gains you see from heavy back squats is almost magic

Haha no idea..I think its because your a lot more sore than other days..or the soreness lasts longer..but squatting is awesome..until you drop the bar off your back...
