    It's a small muscle. You don't need to "hit it" a million different ways. A good 5 sets of solid work will "hit it" just fine. If you want to do a few "sculpting" sets after that, then paint yourself silly.

    If you filleted off the muscle, (not including the fat) from you chest, then weighed/compared it to the muscle in your calve, I'd venture to guess it's sitting about the same.

    Now, do you do 5 different calf exercises on the same day? Or what about triceps? Why not?

    Now, if you're stacked like Jay Cutler pictured above, then you might have to spend a little more time, but also, he is recovering much faster then most.

    Thanks for the advice.

    I usually go heavy on bench 5x5 And lighter weight and higher reps with incline, flys and cable declines. And this is only once a week.


    I'll try to do push-ups and dips on off days.

    that's like showing me ronnie coleman squatting 800, of course the top elites are gonna be bossing it like Rich Froning, but most crossfit people i see are lifting with way too many reps, scary form and have no idea of what a rest period is.

    You seem to lift heavy weights, try this crossfit workout on for size, its called King Kong. And if your sister lifts this amount of weight....holy shit

    3 rounds:

    1 455 lb deadlift
    2 muscle ups
    3 250 lb cleans
    4 hand stand push ups

    Or maybe Linda is more your style,

    For shortest time:

    Rounds of 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 of

    Deadlift 1 1/2 body weight
    Bench press body weight
    Clean 3/4 body weight

    I like to mix Crossfit and weight lifting...both to their own, Ill spend 3 days a week weight lifting focusing on a target muscle group (M-W-F) then I Crossfit at an affiliate 2-3 times a week for both the cardio aspect of it but also the vibe when working out at an affiliate is a blast and incredibly motivating/competitive its hard to explain if you haven't tried it, but i can definitely see it not being for everyone. Although i feel like so many people have been "hating" on Crossfit the more it begins to grow which i understand for the reason that the competitive aspect of it leads to faults in form which then lead to injuries, but when the workouts are performed properly and done correctly i don't see what makes it such a bad way to stay fit, i have to say i feel 10x better after completing a Crossfit workout then i do after a normal weight lifting session. After finishing my personal training certs, im most definitely going to take the time to get Crossfit level 1 certified after seeing the growth of the sport the last couple years, i see it just getting a lot bigger. Thats just my 2 cents ill continue doing both because i see the benefits of each, i just don't see the point of all the hate directed towards different kinds of ways to stay healthy.

    Personally I think crossfit is a good thing. It has its downfalls but metabolic conditioning training is incredibly effective and crossfit has the marketing power to make it very popular. The only issues I have are relate to safety and administration. Olympic lifts are not meant to be done for reps. They require so much focus to execute properly and safely. The whole be really good at everything makes sense if you read it but if I were to train for a crossfit competition I wouldn't do crossfit. Totally random workouts get you to a point of fitness that will plateau. I think even rich froning or someone of the likes admitted he didn't do 100% crossfit in preparation for the games. Also read up on Greg Glassman..very interesting guy.
