Wth are high schoolers doing in gear? I've always wanted to try gear but that crap is expensive.

Did you mean "on gear"? If so, how come you're assuming they're on gear? If not, what does "in gear" refer to?

Saw a kid try to leg press 900 pounds yesterday... but he barely bent his leg during all his reps. Him and all his friends thought they were hot shit. I was like "y'all do realize thats not even considered a rep right? I can put 1200 pounds on there and do what y'all did." Needless to say, they did not appreciate my criticism very much and pretended like I didn't know what I was talking about. Theres no excuse for doing an exercise incorrectly. I'd rather them squat 135 to the point where there ass hit the ground then do all that weight and look like a tard.

    And then......

they curled in the squat rack. :bananadead:

I hate that crap too. Benching kills me the most when fatasses get on there and bounce the bar off their belly or people who don't bring the bar all the way to their chest.

No, I mean in gear. In powerlifting gear refers to squat/deadlift suits and bench shirts. I didn't watch the bench portion, but you can tell some are in "gear" due to the size and placement of the shoulder straps. Regular comp singlets do not have adjustable shoulders like some seen in the vid. Also, knee wraps are considered gear.

Gear - suits, wraps, belts, etc....

I noticed all the gear too, but found it odd that there weren't any lifting shoes.

I saw a kid bow his back to where his entire body was in an arch and he benched. I think the bar may have went down a good 5 inches. I almost said something, but laughed and took a picture instead.

That and super short people bragging about how much they lift. They're automatically more gifted for lifting than us tall lanky people. We got it rough.

I see that in my gym all the time, I see guys with skinny ass pipes and they'll be "curling" 80 lb BBs... Im thinking I can do perfect reps at 70 and mild swinging in 80 lbs... WTF ARE YOU DOING KID, A BACK EXERCISE?!

Im going to go low on my weight this week for squats... I can put up 275 and get to chair sit position but I dont feel too comfortable there. too shaky for my comparability

I usually go to about 90 degrees maybe a bit lower... If I had a 50" chest id be hitting mine all the time ;) hahaha

X2 no lifting shoes. Was really confused.

    Dsjones
You should have an arch in your back when you bench. As long as your butt and shoulders stay on the bench and your feet remain flat on the ground.

Dont get me started on curls, by far the biggest exercise that people "cheat" on. Slow, medium weight, steady reps is better than fast half-ass heavy reps.
On squats i've started to do 4 sets of 10 of 225 with a final set of exhaustion. For me the standard pyramid down routine doesn't seem to work as well for my legs. I'll go up in wait to 245 this week and give it a try.

If you don't squat then you'll never get as big as you could get.

I'm thinking some of the gear was school property, that just got passed between lifters. You can see shirtless dudes standing in lines, waiting to lift. Probably just pass off what they can.

Yea, big difference in lifting for competition then aesthetics.
Different strokes. No need to judge/laugh at someone b/c they don't lift the way you do.
