For some reason as i do more and more hip mobility and ankle mobility work, i find my squat shoes more and more counter productive. i think for my next leg day i'll go back to chucks. could be my shoes too they are 1 lift heel lift compare to the .6 lots of other ones have.

Also, any reason not to do deads with the whole plate step thing? I need to work on my initial pull off the ground, figured it'd be like wearing a weightlifting shoe

One day i'll get a lifting shoe

but i'm poor and my vibrams make me look like more of a gym bro so i'll stick to those for now.....

Don't wear lifting shoes for dead lifts. They actually put you in a bad pulling position. They cause you to lean slightly forward, which is great for the squat and getting your knees out of the way and allowing your hips to break back. But when dead lifting, your starting position should have you with nearly vertical shins.

    hmm, true

I was thinking in terms of ankle angle rather than shin-bar

I just gotta work on my technique, I guess

    $60, with coupons :anonymous:

which is 1/3 the cost of those lifting shoes. haha

    This.

It would cause u to lean forward. If anything, I would place them under my toes ....but I haven't tried that.

The shoes off with heels under a 5lb plate works wonders for squats though..greater depth and helps keep that spine aligned.

Got my buddy to do the "Wolverine" workout with me today. He was goin "It can't be that bad". He was surprised when he couldn't get all his reps of 65 lb dumbbells. Got a text about an hour after it that said "Yea, I'm feelin that workout"

Jeez, this thread has blown up. Just read through the last three pages, and was getting ready to comment on some of the crazy, but looks like Jr114 has done a good job. Loved the reply to the whole 90* bench shit. Just any easy way for dudes who want to tell people they can bench more then they actually can.

Also glad he hit on the dead lifting in shoes question. Lots of guys go out and buy lifting shoes, then DL in them. I don't see how they do it. Sometimes after power cleans, I'll do DLs, so I'll rack the bar on the lowest setting to move weights, then go change shoes. Just DL'ing 225 off the ground in lifting shoes feels awkward, can only imagine what going heavy on deads would feel like in them.
Chucks, minimalist, or barefoot are all pretty good choices, and easily found.

T4R4, that's too funny about the arch comment. But the dude did is a trainer, so he must be right.
What shoes are you using out of curiosity?
