The ol fiancée has a friend all into crossfit. We got her to max on kipping pull-ups and wide grip pull-ups. She did 15 kipping and 1 wide grip. Point proven. Crossfit is for idiots

If she can only do 15 kipping then she isn't even good at crossfit . I was doing 45-50 in a row and had no problem knocking out pull ups. Kipping I felt it bad in the lats and forearms. While weighted pull ups w/ 45-90# I would feel more throughout the back evenly. I would suggest both to any one though.

But ya, kipping you will get more. It's a lot easier to trick yourself into doing more than you normally would. Once I started and focused on breathing and the movement, I would forgot about the muscles fatiguing. While all I am thinking about with a strict pull up is the contraction.

    Idiots.

She's not overweight, but she's not the most athletic person either lol. The misses and I have been trying to get her to leave the monkey bar station and come to a real gym, but she's not hearing it...even after us proving that a kipping pull-up is a joke.

One of my friends just bought him a weight bench off craigslist and he said he's gonna start lifting again. I think he is about 38 or so. We got to talking and I told him I have been doing a little something at the house and he said you know how you gain muscle? I said yeah, eat plenty of protein. I said I try to eat 1g per pound so I try to eat between 150-160g a day. He said how have you been doing that. I said eating chicken, steak, deer, fish, boiled eggs every morning, cottage cheese with applesauce, and ON gold standard. Only drink two shakes at most a day. He said those protien shakes are bad for your liver. Anybody else heard this

As long as you're not consuming like 9 shakes a day, you'll be fine. All whey protein powder is just protein taken from whey, which is a byproduct of cheese. Too much of anything is bad for you and protein is no different. Any protein you put in your body will be used, unless you're going WAY over the limit and the excess cannot be used; that's where you start having problems. I get 1g per pound of body weight, sometimes more (anywhere from 200-275g). If you start getting over 400 or so grams a day, your body simply can't use all that and it's bad for your liver and kidneys. I don't know anyone who's ever even come close to doing that though. Protein powder is only to be used as a supplement, though. If you can eat clean foods and hit your daily needs, there's no need for a shake. I'm on the go a lot, so I do 2 shakes a day (1 at 50g and 1 at 25g).

Sidenote, protein doesn't make you bigger. Proteins are the building blocks of muscle, but without enough calories to have a surplus, your body will simply use the protein as fuel and you won't gain muscle...you may even lose muscle. It's impossible to gain muscle without being in a caloric surplus. Most people either do high protein, high carb, low fat diets (conventional and most popular method) or high protein, low carb, high fat (keto) diets to attain this. High protein, high carb, high fat diets = fatass lol
