the stock ones are glass....ive seen these on many race trucks..vision x makes top shelf stuff...i bet it would take a hell of a rock to break it. your choice just giving you an option of having a replaceable bulb.

Finally a 3rd gen owner. Just picked it up today. Drove it home 100 miles from San Diego on the highway no problems at all. Felt really about weird about it having 166k miles but the guy gave me a ziplock bag as a thick as a phone book full of service records. The only thing I noticed is there is some vibration when I am at a complete stop. Other than that and the FM radio not working due to the antenna, the truck is flawless.

If you've got proof he kept up on maintenance, you're golden. I've seen dealerships selling those for over $10K with 180K miles or more on them. That truck will run well beyond 300K with minimal service needs.

Here is mine. Just picked her up a few weeks ago. 2004 SR5 4wd.

After about a week I decided to go ahead with a few appearance mods. Debaged everything but the yota emblems. Painted the bumpers to match, as well as the emblems. Removed the running boards. Did the "fog light mod", and pulled out the 3rd row "jump seats" I also put in an oxygen sensor I had the dealer buy. My cel turned on the day i picked her up. Heh.

Yeah I know. Dealers down here try to pull the same crap too. Honestly, I was surprised I was only able to pay 6400 for it.

I'm not in W.V. I split my time between the bay area of California and Seattle. ARB's U.S. headquarters is in the Seattle area so anything I order that's ARB I will call to save shipping. Also to check out whatever they are working on when I show up.

    BTW, OME Suspension installed.

Oh yeah definently. The guy had the oil changed a day or two before I came to look at it and the timing belt is coming up soon at 180. I have 166 now. Let me ask you this, when I go and change the tranny fluid at Toyota, it has to be a drain and refill right? No flushing since its an older tranny?

Btw, the 5th gen 4runner in the front totally looks like a more modern 3rd gen. I'm liking the 5th gens more and more now.

You said you have the service records ? Look and see when he had it done. On our 3rd gen it was supposed to be done at 60 of it was done on time my dealer flushed it. On both our 4th/5th gen models Toyota switched the tranny oil to a oil called world standard and they don't change it till 100 and it's a flush then to. If the last owner changed it (should be twice by now) I'd flush it and start with new. If you can't find where he's done it at all I'd make sure it's full add if need be and never change it! If it hasnt been done by 100 I've heard never do after it will slip like crazy. Let me know what you go with. Enjoy! And your right about the 5th gen I think you have the best looking model and the newer versions are trying to catch back up!!

Well I'm the 4th owner. Come to find out after going through the records they are all from the 1st owner. They took it to Toyota for all its servicing needs up to about 85k miles. I believe they had the tranny fluid changed twice in the time they owned it. I'm really paranoid about doing anything to the fluid now cuz of this. On the T4R.org, they also said dont bother changing it now since the mileage is high. But these Toyota trannys seem to be very very very reliable. So I shouldn't be worried. I plan to get a new radiator to prevent the pink milkshake as I heard changing it every 9 years helps prevent the milkshake from happening. How much do you think the dealer would charge for that?

Got some new rims and tires for my 2000. I painted the LX450 rims with Rustoleum Hammered Finish Black. It turned out really well and will probably be painting the bumpers, flares and cladding with it as well.
