My wife has a 2003 with 99k on it. Its just barely lost the new car scent. :D

On that one in UT I noticed it is full time 4WD so I don't know if you are concerned about fuel economy. Also MAKE sure that sunroof has no rattles and works perfectly. They are a bitch to fix (still cannot find a way to fix the rattle in ours without taking the whole thing apart) and I have been told by a toy tech that they are prone to dropping off the track and no longer sealing.

2009 trail editions are the only 4th gens with lockers.. Gonna be a bit more than 15k though.

if you want selectable 2 or 4wd your gonna have to get a v6, all v8 4x4's come with full time four wheel drive (NOT awd, thanks to the Torsten center diff). oh and no factory rear lockers (other than 09 TE), but the 4x4 models have a pretty cool locking center diff

you should visit t4r.org, it's the best forum for 4runner (IMO). I became a member in 09 and have been addicted ever since.

Yeah, Toyota120 is the best as far as technical stuff goes. It's mostly California guys though

he is new to the game, hence why I directed him to t4r.org, which is much more newbie friendly, and it gets updated about a thousand times more frequently than toyota120 does. I personally never check 120 anymore, because anything that gets posted over there gets posted in t4r by the same people.

Can anyone measure their stock suspension 4runner from the center of the wheel/hub to the edge of the fender? I'd like to know how much I'm actually lifted. Never measured it before

I'm pretty mechanically inclined as far as working on the rig. I just don't know much about the runners themselves other than it will suit everyone of my needs. such as more seating, covered cargo space, bigger engine, off road capable and will tow more than my current rig. And if I'm going to get 18mpg I'd rather do it in a 4runner than a 4 banger taco.

If you are just thinking about 18mpg then you could get the full time 4WD. At least the way my wife drives hers. That thing sips gas. But might be her driving style.

I have a 2006 honda Accord 6spd v6 as my DD and a 1989 toyota pickup with the 3.0 as a project/work truck/toy. Here is my dilema...I am thinking about selling the Honda and the truck. My intentions are to be able to have a DD and something better to pull the mobile carwash trailer with. What do yall think about this Runner and the price? The bad is, it needs new tires and the RPM gauge isn't working. I don't know if the Timing Belt has been done or not. I am also trying to get out of a car payment every month to save some money!

I did drive it today and it drove straight and 4wd worked great. Flexed the shit out of it, wish I took a pic. Passenger rear wheel off the ground and driver front off the ground also. The runner was rocking, lol not in that way!!! Locked it and pulled right out.[IMG]
