Welcome Raymond. The first step is admitting that you have a 4 Runner. The next step is realizing we all relapse in giving into bad ass mods for the 4 Runner. :D

Probably. I'd guess it was pretty bad ass.

I built the bumper/sliders with my friend Whitecloud. There wasn't much in that monster I didn't mess with.

This machine cost twice as much as my Taco did.
Not sure if I want to dump money into it or pick up an old Hilux or an old runner and go crazy beast mode.

If i do, do anything to the runner I won't cut corners on mods. I would feel like a retard putting a $600 lift on a $44k vehicle

Totally agree with you there. I told my wife when we got her the 4Runner, I already had done what I wanted to my truck so we wouldn't need to do anything. Sure enough we upgraded tires and wheels, then she caught the bug as well. Then came the lift, lights. She's worse than I am now.

My current other half drives an is250 and has/will never have any interest in modifying vehicles unless it's a shoe rack for the trunk.
I really lost the daily driving ability with the Taco and beat the hell out of it. I almost would rather buy a beater to really tear to pieces and not feel bad about it.

Hey guys I sold my DC Tacoma last month to help my grandmother pay some medical bills but I couldn't stand not having a 4wd Toyota so I picked up a 99 4runner 5 spd with 184k miles. I do miss my Tacoma and will always have a soft spot for them but I'll buy another one once I finish school. Here are some pics of the 4R. I really haven't done much to it except remove the grille guard and put some clear corners on it. Main stuff I am going to focus on is maintenance stuff like timing belt, water pump, and LBJ.

Haha thank you. This is my 3rd 3rd gen 4runner so I am pretty familiar with them but this is my first manual one.

That's my odd duck. 247k 98 3rz powered 4x4 5spd. I added the cladding and did the bedliner as paint. E locker and re-geared coming up soon and hopefully a welder for skidpans.

    Nice 4runner RickerRicker19! I wish I could have found a 3rz 5 spd when I was looking.

Eventually i want a sac conversion up front on my 98.....but that's a few years down the road.

Thank you! The 3rz is a little underpowered if you ask me but it is a great engine. Did the headers, exhaust, and intake. After I do a mild cam and tune it I should be able to close the gap a little. The 3rz has a lot of potential.

I know what you mean. Once I graduate I am going to purchase a first gen and do SAS and 3.4 swap for a weekend cruiser. I really like the removable tops on the first gens.

There's someone that did that on a third gen too......but he took a torch to it.
