The Official TW 4Runner owners thread

KBB and Edmunds says about $22K. But that wouldn't account for the Thule box and second set of Winter tires/rims, which I'm guessing is the better part of $1000 each. I've thought about the lower 48 angle, but right now we seem to be in a cycle of relatives coming up to visit every Summer and my leave time gets eaten up by that and my fishing/hunting trips. 4-5 months of Summer isn't enough; but that's part of the game living up here.

Prices seem to break down like this: New $40-45k; Couple yrs old w/ less than 25K miles $30-35K; 5-7 yrs old w/ 70-80K miles $20-25K. I kind of like the 4th gen look. Funny, I think I'd have more confidence in that 4Runner with 77K miles than I do in her 2008 Escape with 55K miles. I don't know, might just go look at new ones too.

 

I bought new after I swore I wouldn't. There were almost no new 5th gens and went to look at a used one I liked and they wanted 38k for an 11 said fuck it and spent the extra few thousand and got a shiny new one

 

Found my way back to Toyota! Dealerships were running a few 4Runners as their "loss leader" ad vehicles and I was able to capitalize! Literally, I paid less for this than most 2 year old 4Runners with 35K+ miles on them. Could not be happier.

This is not my first rodeo with a 4Runner though. I had a 1987 that I installed a new long block in, an AAL and bigger wheels and tires. Not an off road killer but it was a lot of fun.

I just got my 4 Runner yesterday! After riding a bike to work everyday for 2 years I am STOKED. I couldn't figure out if mine is silver or like pearl, so I am pretty sure it is this Desert Dune color. lol Going to go get some nice all weather floor mats for the inside today. Black out the wheels soon, and eventually get some Camburg suspension on there. ( I work there, how can I not?)

 

Almost complete with the runner retro, will post more pic's when finished.

 

We need all the runners we can get.

It's been a while since I've been on this site, had an 03 tacoma.. Went to a maxima(nice ride but sold it because of financial issues), and now I'm in a 2000 4runner and I love the thing.i really couldn't be any happier with it. I just have a question for you guys

I noticed the 4runner has been louder lately and decided to bring it in for an oil change today. The tech found the leak and luckily it's in the muffler and there's some holes in the tail pipe. I'm thinking I'm going to cut the muffler off and replace everything from the muffler back. I'm looking to order the flowmaster super 44 it makes a pretty nice sound with the 3.4.. Question is have any of you guys or gals done this? Also if you have what size inlet/outlet did you run and what offset? I'm thinking 2.5 inch from the muffler back.

 

2.5 is the general upgrade size unless you have some crazy stuff in the engine bay.

Any notable mods to do?
Was thinking: bolt on sliders, Bilstein 5100s and remove XREAS at same time, front to 2.5" and add a 1.5" rear spacer, and tires, in that order.
Thoughts?

 

sounds like a pln, dont you have coils in the rear? finding larger coils are a way better rt than a spacer
