Anybody else looking forward to Seth MacFarland's new show coming in September?

    upload_2017-8-3_8-39-20.jpg

Down on his luck after a bitter divorce, Planetary Union officer Ed Mercer finally gets his chance to command his own ship. Determined to prove his worth and start a new chapter, Ed discovers the first wrinkle in his plan when the First Officer assigned to his ship is his ex-wife, Kelly Grayson. As the new commander, Ed assembles a qualified -- but eccentric -- crew, including his best friend, Gordon, who has problems with authority but is the best helmsman in the fleet; Dr. Claire Finn; Bortus, an alien from a single-sex species; Isaac, an artificial life-form from a machine society; navigator John Lamarr; Alara Kitan, a young, inexperienced security officer; and Yaphit, a gelatinous creature

I didn't hate it. Yes it could have been better, and it wasn't phenomenal, but it was a pilot episode...and its supposed to be a little stupid...its part of the joke

I caught up on the 3 episodes that have aired and have actually enjoyed the show. It's funny enough to pass for me. I am not looking for hilarity at every turn, just an entertaining comedy space show.

Episode 4 was actually pretty damn good, with some pretty hilarious moments. Ep. 4 was essentially Star Trek NG meets WestWorld, and was a metaphor on religion. Great stuff! It seems like with this episode The Orville may have found it's footing. Hopefully the future episodes are on this same level of balance with the laughs and drama.

Now star trek seems promising. Not sure if I liked this show. Was expecting better comedy from Seth.

I just watched episode 5 and I thought it was hilarious! Gordon teaching ISAAC about humor and practical jokes was just great. I died when ISAAC pulled his prank on Gordon, and how the joke progressed over the episode until the end. I'm here giggling to myself just thinking about it while typing this post.

The visual depiction of the dark matter storm was pretty awesome too. I hope Fox announces that The Orville is signed on for a second season. I am loving it so far.

The Orville is a LOT better then Discovery, in my opinion. The ONLY way that Discovery can be shoehorned into S.T. Canon would have to be in "The Kelvin" timeline.
The Orville has a good mix of comedy, some silly, and some serious issues as well, like Religious Dogma, Gender identity, Dealing with authority, and more.

I missed the fact that this episode was directed by Jonathon "Riker" Frakes!

It's the levity that makes it so good. It doesn't take itself too seriously, while still tackling good subjects. I keep checking Hulu for the next episode, but still looks like the holiday break is in effect. Maybe this Thursday it will be back.

I also forgot to mention that the last episode, Mad Idolatry was a very good episode. This is the one where they discover a tear in the fabric of our universe, and find a planet that orbits into our dimension. It was pretty intriguing and if not for Issac, a whole planet would potentially have been doomed under the religion of Kelly. lol

Still an awesome show. I usually post comments elsewhere, but S2 has been great so far.

I agree. Season 1 was ok to me but kept my attention with the subtle humor and relevant subject matter. This whole thing with issac and the Kalon was totally an unexpected twist.

I love this show, it is funny, decent sci-fi, and it has Adrienne Palicki. My wife hates it, she thinks it is juvenile humor and low-brow sci-fi. My comeback is always, "It has Adrianne Palicki!'

Season 2 has been pretty good. I have yet to catch up on part 2 of Identity, but I will watch it this weekend!

I'm loving all the under cover cameos this season too. Did anyone catch Bruce Willis as the giant flower? :D
