I've had mine for nearly 3 years now and with a ton of use, still going strong. I would recommend in ditching the supplied hardware (nuts and bolts) and provide your own.

...While on the Ring Loop hike, we'd spotted an ideal spot for camping just to the south of Hole in the Wall, and we made our way that direction so we could get setup and start dinner before the sun set completely. It was perfect timing as it turned out, a break in the clouds along the horizon providing an amazing show for us as the sun lit the sky from below. Combined with the snow-capped mountains, and tasty grilled hot dogs, it was a great way to...

Another quick question for you all. Ok so I ordered my bed rack and next I will be ordering my smittybilt xl in due time.

Will I be good to go for the rtt set up now as far as mounting the tent? I believe the rtt has everything I need right?

Replace the supplied hardware with grade 8 bolts and actual genuine nylock nuts

Yes, and the hardware the attaches the channels to the tent. the supplied bolts are cheap quality and will eventually stretch. And the plastic in the nylock nuts will eventually disintegrate and loose it's "locking" abilities.

Great, will do. thank you again.
Ive heard people mention “seasoning”a tent before first use for waterproofing. Is that all models or just a few?

It's all models and it's simple to do. Won't take long for the fabric to dry on a normal sunny day.

...As you might expect, turning off the main drag onto New York Mountain Road resulted in the snow level got significantly deeper. Traffic had gone before us, but it had been light - two, or perhaps three vehicles over the last several days. We pressed on...

We'd encounter the deepest snow so far, and you can read all about it in
Mojave Redemption #5 - Into the New York Mountains

So without the bikes, is there enough room to lower the tailgate and use it to cook on or whatever without the ladder being in the way? I've been thinking about turning mine to open towards the back as well.

Edit: Mine would be mounted higher up.

Maybe stupid question. California SNO-PARKs rule says: "Overnight parking, including in-vehicle camping is allowed except where noted or signed at SNO-PARK sites. Tent camping or sleeping outside a vehicle in the parking area is prohibited at all SNO-PARK sites."
Question: what is camping inside RTT on the top of the truck -> in-vehicle or not?

Just a bunch of old crap
180w Sunflare solar panel finally installed with Sika Flex adhesive. Just letting it cure a bit before pulling off the masking tape and cleaning up the buggers. Victron MPPT controller mounted to my PowerTray. Probably doing wiring tomorrow. Did an externally ran wiring test the other day to make sure everything was working.
