According to the Toyota roof rack installation guide, they are called "roof ditch moldings".

They are held on with double sided sticky tape.

Depending in where you live the adhesive wears off quickly and itsmpossiblemformthem to fly off when you're driving around, not just when doing 220 mph.

I paid $214.50 for mine, and installed it myself easy enough. Comes with everything you need and instructions.

My vote is for getting a roof rack, but that's just my personal opinion. Maybe you could talk the dealer down a little bit since the other piece fell of while it is still under warranty.

Talked to the dealer again today. They said that they will replace it under warranty, didn't even sound real surprised that it had come off. So I'll take it in on Monday and talk to them. If I've sent you a PM about the rubber strip, I'll probably not need it, but should know for sure on Monday.

I'm undecided about the roof rack. I kind of like the utility of it, but not really the way it looks, and I know it'll decrease gas mileage. I eventually want to put a shell on the back, so that should give me all the cargo space I'll need--though if I had a roof rack on both, I could haul big ass ladders and tree stands and stuff--I dunno...

These come off all the time. ESPECIALLY in car washes. The right angle just blows them right out of the channel. When i replace them I clean the area real well and add adhesive every 2 or 3 inches and at the edge. I'm waiting for mine to blow off. Then I'll do the same to mine. Have not had one come off after i have replaced it.

yep, I had the other one blow off on the highway a couple months back. I've decided to just get some roof racks instead.
