that must be a wide wheel and the offset is pretty aggressive. I’m guessing you will rub in a couple places.

its 16x8 -25mm offset 3.5 bs. I can cut and trim plastics no biggie but was hoping to avoid cab mount chop for now.

Can’t say for certain, but I’d gamble a CMC will be necessary.

Yall think 235/75/16 would look stupid without backspacing it to push it out a half inch or so?

Look at the threads full of 235 pics! Spacing out a half inch doesnt make up for the narrow width of the tire. I ran 235’s on my old reg cab 2nd gen, pretty skinny! Was happier once i got 265’s then the perfect upgrade to both of those was simply running 255’s!

No need to run 285s for the type of trails I do. Plus the much lighter tire will work better with the FWC.

I’ve searched TW for days. I can’t find one pick of a 3rd gen running 255/85/16 on a 3.5bs scs wheel. Anyone out there running this setup care to share some pix ? I’m back and forth on this setup and 265/75/16

After nine punctures and incredible tread wear in 1.5 years in the OEM 265/70R16 WRANGLER ALL-TERRAIN ADVENTURE WITH KEVLAR, I decided to get skinny and got LT235/85R16 DISCOVERER S/T MAXX yesterday. A special thanks to @DiscountTire Direct for helping me order and set up an appointment.

These tires are definitely heavier. I have a 2.75 hour drive home from the nearest discount tire (and most any shopping) and noticed the weight of the tire. It's too early for a review.

    Here are some photos.

..sorry i dont have the 3rd Gen, but I just got back from a 973mile loop including hiway pavement, gnarly gravel, gravel with embedded sharp boulders, gravel with nasty corrugations, and some sloppy sand, plus a few chunky hard rock steps. For this trip I had switched out my ST/Maxx 285/75/16 on SCS F5, for my TRD 2nd Gen stock rims with a discontinued cooper ST 255/85/16. loved the skinny ST's the whole trip. The OEM rim at 7 inch is perfect for this old 255 tire. previously I had mount this 255 on the 8 inch SCS F5 and the tread was too narrow and the wide rim caused the sidewall to 'bulge' out and expose to rocks. That is why I switched over to the 285's, which were perfect with the 8 inch F5, but made OEM gearing slightly sluggish. Running the 255/85/16s on the OEM wheels do not look as cool as the 285/F5's, but the hiway performance is more nimble, and the tires sit within my fenders and don't sling mud and rock onto the truck. I liked the volume of the 285's, but these old 255's did everything just as well in terms of volume on this route. I personally do not like rims and tires sticking out more, with your 3.5bs SCS, you might like the look of the 265 more. I recall Vinney saying the skinny tire guys tended to prefer the greater BS version, which I have. I'll look for a foto for kicks and edit it in

How is that Frontier treating you? I am on the fence to ditch my Tacoma and have been considering that last small truck that still feels like a real truck! I would run 255's on it though....
