The Taco Garage - An actual shop for all things Tacoma - SAN DIEGO

It's been a while but I figured I should make an official post about it.
It started a few years back when I was lurking through TW while trying to mod my first taco, eventually I made something I really liked and decided to share it on TW. One thing lead to another and The Taco Garage has now grown into a small but very exciting Tacoma-specific shop. We design, make, sell and INSTALL! all kinds of tacoma parts.
We sell everything we make but we don't make everything we sell (I wish...). We make a few items in house and we also outsource some of our designs to local manufacturing shops. We do however INSTALL pretty much everything your taco may need no matter if you buy it from us or not.

I'm not the only tacoma-specific store out there and not even close to being the most popular (I wont name that other shop, you probably now it already...) HOWEVER, I think we're also very different in than some of the the other off road shops out there in some key aspects and that's what I think will eventually (hopefully) prove successful.

1. We are not an "off-road" shop, we are The TACO Garage.
We are Tacoma specialists and our goal is to learn everything about Tacomas. You've heard the phrase "jack of all trades master of none" at the taco garage we're aiming for the opposite... Masters of one trade - The Taco. Disclaimer: We don't know everything about tacomas yet, we've learned a lot and we learn more and more as time goes on, we do research and we have tacomas ourselves that we work on almost daily so we know a lot, but NO, we're not tacoma gods... yet

2. We are website and physical store.
We're not just a website selling whatever we can buy and sell. We have an actual brick and mortar shop where you can come in and ask questions about the products you are interested in buying. Modding your Tacoma isn't as simple as just buying socks on Amazon so its always good to have someone to talk to and parts to look at before actually pulling the trigger

3. We design and make our own parts.
We are authorized dealers for a lot of your favorite companies but we also make parts ourselves. We use our Tacomas and we (like you) often come across things that could be better. We make a few things that try to improve the functionality of the truck and we are always looking for new bigger and better ways to improve that functionality.

4. We are installers too.
We install basically everything that we sell and even things that we don't sell. If you have bought something for your taco and need someone to install it, we can do it. Our specialty is Tacomas so when it comes to installations, chances are we've installed a similar if not the exact part you want before and therefore we can do it better, faster and often times cheaper than other places.

5. We carry stock of parts that you wont find on hand elsewhere.
Ever tried to get a steel bumper from walmart? how about costco? ok ok... 4Wheel Parts or Off Road Warehouse? Chances are they wont have any Tacoma bumpers in stock. How about sliders? for most shops it makes no sense to keep stock of those large items so you end up buying online and paying $300 for shipping, but we work almost exclusively with Tacomas so keeping a few bumpers and sliders in stock isnt a big deal, we cover omst of our customer base with just a few items. But even with more simple items like baja lights, rotopax or roof racks? Obviously buying online is super convenient but if you have to pay 80 or 300 dollars in shipping and then wait for weeks to get your stuff, it may just be worth it to check with us.

Being a Tacoma specific shop means we get to learn a lot about the taco. It means we can provide better advice, better parts and often better pricing to our customers. TW has been a huge part of TG and I want to thank everyone who has been part of our growth so far, so THANK YOU.
We have had our fair share of bumps along the road and I know there's more coming, but I know the only way to smooth things out is to find the rough spots. We are continuously improving our methods and refining our taco-knowledge and TW is a great resource for that so again THANK YOU.

Got any dual swing out options for 2nd gens?

 

I live in San Diego and have been to the Taco Garage multiple times for installs and to buy parts. Simply put, these guys have great prices and do amazing work. They really care about their customers and in my experience treated my truck like it was their own. I highly recommend anyone in San Diego county and surrounding areas give them a shout for any of your Tacoma needs.

 

I just replied to your other message too but we can, we dont have one in stock but we could order from your usual companies and save you a few bucks still if you order through us, they all sadly have long lead times though.

I wish I had the resources for multiple shops, one step at a time, but hopefully one day...

 

Is there anything that you guys don't/won't do as far as work goes? Or do you pretty much cover anything a Taco could need?

 

There are still a few things we dont do, the goal is to do everything eventually but anything that requires welding we don't do yet. We don't do re-gears or re-build shocks yet either. We will eventually but we've been increasing our capabilities as we go and those are all on our list. Is there something specific you need done?

 

Lol it was actually those 2 exact things I was curious about. But I'm not looking to get them done for quite some time. Probably end of this year at earliest.

 

So.... bolt on stuff only for now?

 

I know... I had to start somewhere though. The goal is for you to have ONE place that can do almost if not everything. That's not easy to do especially if you're trying to do it for multiple vehicles but since we're focusing on tacos, we should be able to achieve that goal soon. Welding is coming first.

I am WTB a TRD replica PRO grille with letters for a 2nd gen (2013). Does your shop carry those? I could join the group buy but i feel more confident if I receive the item in-person and of course, support local shops.
