I checked my tires with an accurate gauge , and they are all at exactly 30p.s.i. , which is what the owners manual in my 2012 Prerunner say they should be ( with the 2.7L motor , and the tires being size P245/75R/16's , which they are that size )... I drove it around to see if the light would go off , but no luck yet . Any ideas ?

If spare is aired up that means bad tpms

The light comes on after a certain percentage is lost, they could have been overinflated when it was set and now the system sees 30 psi as under now, you also want to check the spare as mentioned above.

My opinion: people survived the past 100 years of cars without tire pressure gauges. We can too. If it's broken, who cares. Get out and look regularly.

I only listen to my spedometer, fuel gauge, and RPM gauge. Anything else is white noise.

2012 doesn't have a TPMS in the spare when stock from the factory.

Just reset the TPMS to the pressure you have now if it is at the sticker pressure.

Let's assume one has a bad sensor. How does one isolate it to the particular wheel and what's the avverage cost, is it a dealer-only job?

Wife's Rav4 is the one, 05..already checked spare and no sensor.

Only way to test is a tpms diagnostic tool that scans and tells you if it's a dead battery, weak signal or functional

I'd presume that's a general tool, not toyota specific?

There hasn't been a TPMS in the spare since 2011 IIRC.

I had the same problem, aired all up to 35 psi, still had the dreaded TPMS light, call the dealer, they said if the light is blinking, bad TPMS sensor, otherwise air the spare to about 38 and my problem should be solved, if not bring it in for a $100 TPMS diagnosic test. Aired up the spare to 38 and problem solved

I bought a kit that is used for the Dually trucks rear wheels. It has two steal braided hoses that are about 12 inches long and 2 clamps to hold it to the wheel like the one from Amazon link above but is at half the price. It makes it a lot easer to air up spare tire.
