So, I bought my Tacoma SR around 6 months ago, and have really enjoyed it thus far. I'll never need 4WD, so I went with the 2WD, 4-cylinder model. I was just looking at the time, but couldn't pass on the deal I negotiated on one that had just rolled off the truck with 6 miles on it.

Why did I buy an SR?

    1. First and foremost, I'm cheap
    2. I'm a fan of simplicity, and don't like climate control and other electronic gadgets
    3. It had BlueTooth audio
    4. Adding intermittent wipers and cruise saved me thousands over an SR5
    5. Back to simplicity, I didn't have to "de-badge" it
    6. The subdued, chrome-less grill saved me from Plasti-Dipping
    7. Personally, I like the lines/angles of the non-flared version
    8. I was able to add Sport wheels/tires with 30 miles on them for $800 (with TPMS sensors)
    9. I added the previous gen running boards for less than $300
    10. #5, #6, #8 and #9 make it look like a debadged, Plasti-Dipped, $40K Tacoma!:D

I wish they would sell me a MT DC 4x4 SR and make it LB while you at it. :playball:

I don't think it's unappreciated too much. I'm pretty sure most on TW know it has the most bulletproof engine/tran available in the 2.7/5MT. I bought mine for the same reasons as you. I lol every time I see someone on here debadging, plastidipping, and parts changing to achieve the look I got FOC.

    Your truck looks great BTW.

Its a shame they did away with the 4 cylinder manual for 2018, you got the last of that combo.

OR price minus sr price, use savings for killer upgrades, yea, great plan, not being sarcastic either....I would have went that route if I knew then what I know now.

That’s a nice, clean looking truck. Understated and classy.
Nice work. The sport wheels were all the sr needed.
    Congrats!

I also chose a SR for most of the same reasons but wanted 4WD. Added wheels and mud flaps. Next maybe some rock sliders and tint.New tires 006.jpg
