There is only one reason why I "hate" owning a truck....can you guess what it is?

Pretty much every on I know has a PU, but mines the biggest. 2008 Thundra DoubleCab 4X4 V8 8' bed. I feel like I'm piloting a C130 after driving my wifes 04' Taco. Yeah I get the bigger jobs for hauling OPs crap.
;) Once its paid for then the mod fun begins

surprisingly, i never had that problem with my 93 4x4. lol it was such a p.o.s. no body trusted their stuff in the bed of it! HAHA! i trusted it very well! well enough to load the bed completely full of dirt and rocks... not a single problem... just sounded like it was gonna fall apart. :p now my step dads tundra.... people ask him occasionally to haul stuff for him.

THIS IS A F*#& SAD THREAD
I can't believe the op is complaining about people asking him to help them out and in return paying him money? You should be happy to help out your family and friends if you can. Not everyone is in the postion to be able to buy a truck. You never know when you will need them.

    Offer three options:

    1. Charge gas at double the price, what you haul by the cubic inch, what you lift by the ounce, and what you carry by the step.

    2. Demand to fuck his pretty wife/girlfriend/daughter. That is why the truck has a "bed". If he does not have any of those, he must hire a hooker, you get final approval on who.

    3. Put an offroad spare tire setup in your bed, not much else will fit.

Agreed, I was raised to help my friends and family out any time I can. Any of my friends know they can call and ask me for anything and I will help them out. At the same time, I don't hang out with people that would take advantage of my generosity. If it's a small trip, I won't take money, but they will usually insist on buying/making dinner or lunch. If it's a long trip I will take gas money, but no more than the actual cost of the gas. Stop crying about having to use your truck to help out someone who doesn't see a need for one, and help out the people who care about you.

i have the same mindset, but sometimes it gets a little excessive, one of my friends asked me to haul part of a tree, i took it to his girlfriends house, then he asked me to go get the wood chipper, and im like... ok, sure. i come back with the wood chipper and tell him i have to go to hockey practice, he ignores me then asks me to go get some mulch for his garden, WTF, i just told you i have to leave and you olay asked me to do one thing and now it turned to 3 things:mad:

I give them a verbal disclaimer. If shit falls out, gets stolen, or breaks, it's not my fault. I had to haul a small cargo box up to VA Beach this weekend for a friend...the box itself is sitting in the bed, cracked with mugs and dishes thrown about...Don't think he'll ask me to haul again.

I don't do it when people ask. I will let people take it if they need it but only people that can afford to replace it or fix it if they mess something up.

I rarely get asked to do stuff with my truck, so I'm more than happy to haul stuff, pull out stumps, or pull a truck out. I love using my truck as a truck.

I'm happy to help my friends because they are like my family. When I've needed help in the past with other things that you don't need a truck for, they've been there for me.
Being a friend is helping without expecting anything but a thank you in return.

I have no problem helping out a friend/family as long as it's a reasonable request. Though I had an old buddy ask me the other day if I would help him tow his car from Tucson to Houston because he didn't trust driving it. I asked what about your stuff? His aunt was going to drive from Texas to AZ to get a trailer and haul his stuff. I responded back why not just get a u-haul truck and car dolly? He said the u-haul was too big for the stuff he has o.0 (obviously the car isn't to big I guess???).

I responded back with by the time he paid for gas, food, hotel, other vehicle expenses, the dolly for the car and my time for a two way trip from az to texas he'd spend at least twice if not more than getting a uhaul and doing it himself.

Really the question blew me away. How do you even ask such a thing?
