Exactly...The truck is still at Toyota for the recall. I am glad I dump trucked it before the recall. I lost my faith in the Tacoma. never remembered such issues in any of my Gen 2 units,

The Honda dealer unloaded one of two 4Runners for my truck. Same mileage, upgraded interior, power seats, leather, and I can still carry what I carried in the truck. I don't do 4 Wheeling. Haven't in 25 years since living out west.

I followed the link to look at it and immediately an online chat popped up. Here is the discussion below. And yes, I am that guy (at times):

Cole: Welcome to East Coast Honda. How may I help you?
Visitor4712776: oh just reading up on your listing for this "2016 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Road 1 owner 60 day warranty" that has a thread on a Tacoma community forum. You may want to rename the ad, as this is NOT an off-road package. it is a sport. Most Tacoma owners and seekers will bawk at the attempt of selling this as the Off-Road package
Cole: A moment please, while I read your message.
Dave: I'll forward your inquiry. May I know who am I chatting with?
Visitor4712776: A Tacoma owner. Just wanted to inform you of the mislabel. Thanks!
    Dave: Thank you.

And if you live in the southeast, the Toyota dealers get you for paint protection labeled as "Toyota Care" or something like that and they add another $1995 to the price and all they did was put a clear 3M bra on the front hood, side mirrors, door edges, door cups and front 1/4 fenders....

Is this real? I couldn't find it on their site and want it to be real for the laughs.

EDIT: Cole just popped up on the chat LOL.

Two minutes later EDIT: Dave just popped up on the chat. Resisting trolling urges...

What's the point of this thread? Once a dealer buys a used car they can sell it for whatever they want, getting a buyer is a whole different story. Funny how people think that the only time their car is worth something is when they sell it, but criticize a dealer for doing the same thing. Just keeping it real.

Usually the first responder is automated, hence the "let me read your message" reply, then a human takes over.

    Not abnormal.

It said 60 day warranty on the ad...however I added in parenthesis the 60 miles part.

It's a play on the joke of an "Oklahoma warranty: 30 minutes or 30 miles whichever comes first." Perhaps it's a regional humor thing.

    your wrong,

It depends on the vehicle. A tacoma at msrp is about 3k more then invoice. A Honda Fit has about 500 dollars....

A land cruiser has about 15k.... Now days the only vehicles that have profit in them are the higher end, more luxury vehicles and no im not talking about a fully loaded tacoma.

Dodge,Chrysler,Jeep,Ford,GMC,Chevy have huge profits in them to... So I guess it comes down to the Make... Honda and Toyota generally do not have much profit in there vehicles, That is why Dealers survive off of accessories and warranties.

The only time there is a huge markup is if a dealer slaps a "regional price adjustment" on the vehicle... which is usually around 5k in my area... Those are bs and they are pure profit.

Personally I think the invoice price is a gimmick that is meant to shut down negotiations with the customer.

Car companies make profit and the one's that claim they are unprofitable have boards and greedy CEO's that see themselves as needing more...more...more. No company can have guaranteed unlimited growth.

Hopefully the profits trickle to the dealerships because they are the ones pushing and selling the product and doing the sales work.

Even the non-profit orgs like Goodwill and Salvation Army have CEO's making $6 million or so a year. Everyone that's in the non-profit charity game make sure that they themselves live high on the hog.

That's my rant for the day...

They can call it whatever the hell they want now that it is a used vehicle. They don't have a Monroney sticker to uphold

Yep. The industry has adapted to the amount of information available to consumers. To think otherwise is to be in denial.

Also saw the guy saying I was wrong. I have him on ignore for good reason obviously, but I can see because you quoted him. First off he says "your" wrong when it should be "you're" and then he goes on to talk about new car pricing. Reading comprehension fail as I was talking about Used vehicle pricing. He shall remain on ignore.

Invoice is after what they paid + Shipping + a pack

The pack is what pays the higher ups like the owners and the GM's no dealer will ever go below invoice unless there is a Rebate offered by the manufacture...

Example would be a Toyota Corolla. A dealer will say its for sale at invoice (lets assume that number is 18000) with a 2k rebate through toyota.

The dealer does not loose that 2k.... the Manufacturer does. This is the only time a dealer can and will sell anything under invoice.

Will you get someone who lies and tells you a number is invoice? you betcha, But you can have the dealer prove it is invoice by them printing out the spec sheet.

You can make a LOT of money in dealerships, I worked with sales who make 6 figures (WA) there managers bring home the bacon at around 250k/y and there gms make around 1 mill/y

This is just my knowledge of my dealership I worked at, You can expect those number from any dealership that offers new and used vehicles. I am not talking about those mah and pa used only stores.

One of the worst things I hated when selling cars is when people came in with an imaginary number and wanted to stick with it.. but then want one of our more expensive models or trims. Be realistic when it comes to what you want to pay or you will never find the deals.
