They say there's no stupid question. I'm here to prove that wrong.

Ok, so I really dig this little guy: http://www.nextwarehouse.com/item/?...-Ea6VtDVffXtNmtMerC36Qp6ZEqF43lRoCOokQAvD_BwE

That's a great price, by the way. So the transmitter is in a very compact box, basically lighter and not much bigger than the handset. Here's my idea: for a backpack I thought I would get one (or more) AA boxes for juice and wire them up with powerpoles to the unit. This would make a great backpack set up except for the antenna. I need some kind of solution for that. Here's where my stupid question comes in:

Do you think that a rubber duck mounted in the transmitter would work? I know it's just a dummy load, so what kind of range would I get? When the user is back at the truck he can plug it into the truck's 12v system and a mag mount. But for the backpack?

Any recommendations and clever insults are greatly appreciated.

That just looks shitty. Not to mention frying himself with UHF radiation.

I have that same CB radio, its super nice with the exception of the coiled wire.... its super super super stiff... like to the point where when I try to talk with it, half the time it pulls the socket out of my dash.

Im working on building a replacement cable for it.
