    hey whats up guys. today i got a flat tire and when i went to get it patched the guy said it couldnt be patched. he advised not cause the thing that i ran over was something cut the tire. so i get quoted for new tire and its a crazy amount for one tire. so i thought why not try to save an order new wheels and tires.
    i was looking at the:

    Ballistic Jesters
    Pro Comp 8101
    XD Monster
    XD Misfits

    my question is, will a 17x9 be my best choice? i dont off-road or anything. i dont have a lift but do plan on doing it in the future. what tire size do you recommend? i also know that i might need to trim a little. will replacing wheels/tires give me any lift? just looking for some advice for everyone. thanks and happy holidays

    You should choose the wheel width based on the tire size you want to run, not the other way around. With a 9" wide wheel you should really run 285's or wider, though some 265's are approved for 9" wide wheels.

    With a 285 or 295 tire, what profile would be best? What tires are also recommended?

    285/70/17 is the most popular tire size in 285. You'll need a 3" lift to fit that though.

    Check tire size pricing and then choose appropriate wheel combo.

    If you get wheels with 4.5" backspacing, trim some of your fender well plastic, and possibly chop your cab mounts, then yes.

    I've never heard of a 285/65/17 tire though, so I'm talking about the 285/70/17.

    actually i saw that they have a 16x8 wheel in the pro comp 8101. that is the preferred size that i want. so which tire size is best with the bilstein setup
    here are the specs of the wheels

    16x8, 6 on 5.5 Bolt Pattern
    Backspace = 4.5in.
    Hub Centric = No
    Offset = 0mm

    Some 16x8 pro comps don't clear Tacoma calipers.

    Also, while I like pro comp wheels and run them myself, there have been reports of availability problems with them right now, due to a manufacturing snafu.

    Just remember that wider/taller/heavier means less MPG's and making body contact possible. Make sure they fit without costly mods. JMHO...

    If they clear 05-10, they will clear the 11's.
