Go behind any Toyota dealership and there are stacks of 4 leaf springs that have been removed for the recall. They are free for the taking and if your trying to do it on the cheap they are free. Pick out a nice shinny new looking pair. The only difference between the new and old sets is extra clips attached to the spring to prevent a gas tank puncture if the spring breaks.

No one has blackboards anymore. (My wife is a fourth grade teacher.) Please use college ruled loose leaf paper, double space your work, and turn in Monday morning. Nobody stays after school on Fridays.

Sorry I missed the sarcasm in that post......:angrygirl:

Well I have Dakars and Firestone airbags with cradles - and IMO they work great together. Being able to adjust the pressure/lift according to load is a great feature.

I do realize that OP has pre-TSB springs which some may feel should be replaced. Another option is a re-arch and an extra leaf from a suspension shop - should be pretty inexpensive.

If you need extra load capacity and don't want to bother with lifting the truck: Firestone airbags FTW.

DO NOT BUY THE AIRLIFT BAGS. They are cheaper for a reason.

No because those are adjustable coilovers, there would be nothing to adjust if they even worked in the rear.

Jump in your local forum and see if any of the local guys have or are about to do the TSB and ask if that person will tell the dealership to throw the old springs in the bed. Replacing leaf springs really isn't that much of a pain, and has been mentioned, a shop can do them pretty damn quick and without too much of a hit to the wallet. Look around the suspension forum and see what solutions are out there as far as leaf packs from local vendors, I think those are going to be a far better solution than putting a band aid on the problem with a helper spring.
