Tacos are as under-engineered as Tundras....I'd buy domestic.
    Truth hurts.

Care to define? Seems like both my 08 and 10 work pretty darn well.

Domestics are great till 60K after that they start breaking down and the worst part is when u are trying to sell them, No one will pay you $15,000 for a Dodge, Ford, GM with over 70K :D Domestic trucks in Tacoma's class are $15,000 brand new lol

40k on my 07 access cab. Love it! Only issues were dealt with and fixed free of charge by Toyota; overhead console and rear leaf TSB. Do the scheduled maintainence and you will be good.

I have an 06 DC 4x4 w/ about 85k on it. I have had a few problems. The 4x4 computer and some kind of sensor went out that prevented it from going into 4 wheel drive and locking the rear differential. That was fixed under warranty. I also had my compass/temp guage go out, which I repaired thanks to a thread on here. My right rear window doesn't work and haven't had the cash to get it fixed. I just added front brake pads, but I live on top of a pretty big hill, so that is to be expected. Overall I love my truck, I would redesign the seats if possible. To me they sit to low and could offer even more back support.

Almost 16K on my 2006 (yeah, I don't drive it much), and so far, it's been perfect. Ask me again at 116K miles. :D

OK...you want a truck or want a mall crawler?
    2006 Taco DC TRD Sport
    Frame is wobbly
    Rear leafs are wobbly
    Brake pedal is wobbly
Audio is equivalent of 1960's Plymouth Valiant
Wheels look like they were subjected to military corrosion testing.
I could go on and on...
I've owned enough vehicles to know Gen2 Tacomas or just not that great.

2007, 4.0, 4x4, 65k, toytec.... not one issue, best truck ever, and I had everything from F150's, silverado's and Rams and all (well except the chevy was a diesel HD and it never broke down) just went to shit! stupit 07 F-150 spend more time at the dealer than on the road, the Ram was better but too many suspension problems. With the taco, I tow a 3700lb boat, my track car, and a landscape trailer here and there... If I would do it again I would just get the 4-door instead of the Acces cab
I do love american trucks and cars...... they keep my shop busy!

The transmission blew in my 2010 SRV 6speed with only 2500kms. Windshiled cracked at about 1000 kms.

I love the truck but the 4.0 seems weak for what it is. Other than that its good, not great.

My truck is no mall crawler.

Frame = fully boxed front, re-enforced C channel cab, open C rear. This was done for ride quality. The frame is extremely durable, even if it flexes. It flexes by design, I've never had an issue offroad nor towing, nor bed loaded.

Rear leafs wobbly? AAL TSB made them pretty stiff for a stock midsized truck. If you want great leaf springs go Dakar and don't look back.

The JBL audio in my '10 isn't that bad, it's not great, but for a 'stock' setup it beats most other cars I've had, including my 2005 G35 coupe's Bose. My 2008's stock stereo wasn't that horrible either for a stock setup... virtually all stock sucks.

My wheel's are just fine minus scuffing out in the desert... caused by me. Dunno what to say, my 08 also spent some time in Oregon.

Mall crawlers typically don't have rear lockers either.

Also the 4.0 is actually pretty strong. I towed about 6500lb (near max) up Grants Pass, passing most vehicles like nothing. If you use it in the range it was built for, it's more than solid. It also gave my buddies 300zx a bit of "WTF I have to go WOT to catch up to a truck?"

Also, I've owned... 11 vehicles myself. The Tacoma's quality (while not perfect) is still up there. If you want to talk a crappy truck, look at a Ford Ranger.
