What's up everyone? I'm fairly new on this site so I figured I'd post in the main section. I'm really thinking about ordering some Doug Thorley Long Tubes really soon and had a few questions. First off do I need any gaskets for the install that aren't included with the headers? How long does the install take on average? Cheapest place to get them on the internet? Also anyone have a link to the plug and play 02 sim?

You can get the headers from URD and a plug n play simulator from Empire (you'll want the 1303 or the 1304)
Alternatively, you can get this unit that requires you told splice into the wiring harness. It used to be $89.. not sure why URD raised their price on it, really no reason not to get the Empire one now.

    Thanks, any gaskets I'll need?

Up to you. DT says you can reuse your stock manifold and Y Pipe gaskets.

Do the long tubes bolt up to the factory exhaust system? So if you do a TRD cat-back and long tubes... what replaces the crappy mid y section? Also what kind of power gains are we talking?

I'd expect somewhere around 5-10% increase in HP and slightly more in torque. Not sure about the other questions; I don't have headers on the Taco, only on my 68 Camaro.

Nothing crappy about the Y Pipe. You can get a replacement one with no cats from URD as well.
Here's a dyno graph with what kind of power you can expect from the 1GR

Well I looked at the dyno curve. Actually drops your low end HP/Torque. headers don't do better than stock headers until 2,700 RPM from I can interpit from the graph. 2,700rpm+. 5hp/10# torque gain. That's a lot of money and work for that small of gain. Supercharger would be a better HP/$$

The short tube headers (in my experiance) pick up Hp faster on the bottom....

man, if long tubes only make that much gain, I can imagine the TRD cat-back is a $400+ 2HP Mod right?

Most cat backs are, at most, good for less than 5 hp. Dynomax super turbo showed a gain of 8, while the Flowmasters I have tested have lost 3 to 5 hp.

Yeah, Flowmasters suck. I had them on my 5.7L Fbody. It's like they sound great, but something isn't right aobut them....

Flowmaster mufflers don't suck, they are just designed for sound not performance. Either you like the sound or not, not as a result of the muffler but of your own personal opinion.
