I came across this while driving by a car lot the other day. I got home and looked at their inventory online to see more of it. A 2005 X-Runner with 171,686 miles on it. I have not been to check it out in person yet, these are some pics from their website. It looks like there may have been a small scrape on the front right bumper. They are asking 8,400 dollars for it. What do you X-Runner owners think? What would be a good offer for this truck. I haven´t seen anything like it around my area at all. xrunner1.jpg xrunner2.jpg xrunner3.jpg

I am going to get a closer look at it tomorrow. I have some concerns because the Carfax shows it was sold at an auction and that's how this used car dealer got it. Hopefully it's in good shape.

Beware of head gasket issues for that year.

Sold at auction means nothing... could have been a new dealer trade. Most new dealers send all vehicles older than a certain year or over a certain mileage to auction.

Any idea how many were actually affected. I have done a quick search and it seems most were at 90k, some 150k, and others not until over 200k. With this truck being at 170k, I am thinking it may be a safe bet its gonna be o.k. If I were to get this truck it will be just a once in a while driver as I ride a motorcycle most of the time to work, so just rainy days and a few weeks out of the winter, since we don´t get much winter in Louisiana. My current truck is a 2005 Dodge Dakota and it has 63k miles on it.

Like anything natural selection has its hand in... it varies. Take my Honda... I had a head gasket issue at 134k... others don't have any issue for the life of the engine.

The good news you're part of a vehicle message board and have hundreds of people who will gladly provide thousands of ways to change a head gasket. So... you're covered there.

Well, that was a bust. The interior was in pretty rough shape, the clutch was beyond worn out, and the small scrape I saw on the bumper in the pics, well it was more than a scrape. I was willing to look past the cosmetic issues because I figured some seat covers, and I have a guy that can do some body work, but then the dealer was dead set on getting 8400 for it. I walked away from the lot and didnt even look back. From the pics and from the road I was thinking it was nice, but in person the wow factor just was not there.

There's a blue 06 for sale near me if you want me to look into it for you. Seems like they were asking $10,500 with 112k on the clock, though. I wanted to go test drive it to see how different it was from the 05 base 2wd that I just bought, but haven't gotten around to it, yet. Plus it's out of my price range for what I needed and won't fit in my small garage anyway.

Hmm... Yeah I'm in Utah, sorry, I thought I had my location showing up in my profile.
That would likely be more than a two day trip.
