You can always add Katzkin heat/cool kits along with perforated leather seats along the way. A pretty straightforward mod. Sometimes all these extra doohickeys are things you realize you don't need and it ends up becoming and win/win situation.

Thats a good point. I love features, but I really do enjoy the simplicity of the Tacoma’s as well. Less things to go wrong I guess.

But that comes with the "grind" of modding. If you buy a truck that has it all where's the fun in that...

You can't compare your platinum with any Tacomas the platinum is fords top of the line truck. Has so many things the Tacoma doesn't have even my Lariat is way better than a Tacoma you are comparing apples to oranges.

Limited is top of the line....but platinum is close.

    Correct.

I know they are apples an oranges, that’s why you have a Ford guy (me) on a Tacoma forum trying to get information!

So will a Tacoma be significantly better off in offroad conditions than my F150 is now? Because at the end of the day, what I need is an all terrain truck that I can take anywhere and do anything with but still be comfortable to drive on the road.

I could never quite nail down the feeling the heated seats in my wife’s suv give me...until now.

Getting a stock 12-15 Tacoma will cost me my F150 plus an additional 10k. So even in stock form, will a Tacoma be better suited for my 4-wheeling needs?

Sky is the limit with wheeling a Tacoma. Right out of the box these trucks are great off-road.

I came from a luxury sedan with all the bells and whistles and thought I would miss some aspects. I don’t. Actually I feel more connected to the Taco (2012) because of the simplicity. It literally has all the technology I need and none that I don’t. I specifically shopped for cloth seats by the way. I think leather seats are sort of silly in a truck, at least for the way i want to use a truck. And if you need bun warmers you should surrender your man card :) Good luck with your decision and let us know what you decide!

Get a limited man! I have 2013 limited 4x4 leather, heated seats, nav, jbl audio, back up camera, ect there's alot of features people don't think tacos have haha

But I will say this I wish I had more room in the back seat and tow power other than that it's good peace of mind that this thing will go forever

At the end of the day it's your money. Have you even test drove or driven a friends Tacoma yet? There's many places I'd rather take a Tacoma than a full size lux truck.

I came out of a 2012 Tundra crewcab platinum to a 2016 Trd OR, and yes it was a hugh difference. In the Tundra everything is big especially the rear seat leg room and the platinum version had a kinds of extras that you can't get on the tacoma. But I found myself needing all that extra room less and less so I made the switch. It has taking me awhIle to get used to my Tacoma but it is getting to the point that I really like it. These trucks hold their value so well that trading back into something else wouldn't result in that big of a loss. By the way, my in town gas mileage is a lot better also.

Yes. I went from a 2011 F150 4x4 with the 3.7 V6 to a 2005 Taco with the 4.0. The Ford was all right in the mountains and off road but the Taco is in another class, TRD OR in particular, which mine is. I’m sure the Raptor is an exception for certain things but bigger isn’t always better.
