Well, all cars are paid for, and new. Been getting shipping quotes from $1450-2600 to ship each vehicle. Couldn’t replace the Subi for what I would get for it, and would have to still register the car I would buy. So I think I’m in on keeping the cars. The Multistrada is on the chopping block, but my old monster that has been a project of passion will go(in the back of the truck in a pile).
At this point in need to either find a realtor I can trust, or just find a place to stay until I get a house. Never bought a house sight unseen, but I’m willing.
Will be calling realtors tomorrow, if anyone knows a good one, that would be awesome.
Trying to stay close to Hilo, but there is more work around Oceanside
Have a couple houses I like in Mountain View.

I will be selling the 2017 OR, although it might be a better truck for the area, but it’s still in NY

Did I read right that it will cost almost 4K a year for my truck registration
    $1.75 per pound? = over 7k a year
Or did I read it wrong

I just saw that it is 1.75 cents per pound up to 4000 lbs. Your math is off.

    My truck is over 4K
Lol, just read the part over 4K is .02 per pound

Anyone have experience with building on the big island. Most of the houses I’m looking at need “help”.
I’m a builder so that’s not an issue, just would love to have a conversation about codes and costs

I hear they love tacos and also the tacoma pickup trucks to.

Also - nows a very good time to sell if your thinking of it. In my very basic understanding - this inflated price for used vehicles will not last forever.

we are also looking to move to the big island and have been calling around getting shipping quotes. Just wanted to give you a heads up that all the shipping places we have talked to said absolutely nothing can be in the truck so it might not be possible for you to load the truck bed with stuff. Also I’m sure the locals can give better info but the weather is really different depending what part of the island. Hilo side gets a lot more rain and Kona side is usually sunny. Good luck on the move though the big island is paradise.

I talked to a company that said a loaded trailer and truck are fine, it’s “open” shipping so it’s jus getting parked on a boat
Other option is shipping container,”closed” shipping, which as long as it’s legal, they don’t care what’s in the container. I’m not taking any furniture, mostly art and tools as well as the bikes

You ever been to the big island? It is a very ecologically diverse island. Rain almost everyday in Hilo/mt view/volcano, dry desert in Kona and Ka’u, lush rainforest in hamakua, cold country in Waimea.

That’s what I hear, any clue on Ocean View. Looking at 1 house there
I have never been to Hawaii, lol
I live in Southern Oregon which has similar diverse climate. I live on the coast, rains all winter, sunny the rest of the year
Ever heard of the Emerald Triangle, that’s where I live

I'm thinking of retiring there one day. What island and city are planning to move to?

legal front window tint, not so on the rears..
I live on island and you don't want to live in the Puna district higher crime rate.
Your looking on east side of island so consider looking in Hilo,North Hilo or on the Hamakua coast I know prices are higher than in Pahoa,Mountain View and Ocean View.
Also a good chance you'll be on water catchment in the Puna District.

Just moved back to Kona in July. Definitely ship all your vehicles. Prices are crazy in Kona. My truck was $1700 shipped from Long Beach and took 4 weeks.

I got a quote for 1450, they said about a week,
Best quote I have is 2 cars, a motorcycle, and my stuff for 10k, about 2 weeks
But, if I don’t reserve soon I might have to wait till June
Selling the Multistrada, too big of a bike for the island
Was thinking of selling my truck, don’t think I need a quad cab limited, might pick up something older and ship that or do jdm import
Found a clean 87 pickup in Hilo

45 days to close on a house, hopefully early March move
