If you are going to be using it for offroad use, I saw a website that sold full body replace kits for $900...made to fit over existing frame with long travel...I'll look for it while I am "working" today

I'd turn that taco into a killer off road rig.

Also if you get it, I'd love to get the rims if you would sell them.

How much would you be willing to pay for those rims? I have the same rims on my truck but want to get different ones.

How in the world could anyone comment on that? The ONLY way you could begin to assess if it's worth it is to have a very good body person give you a quote on what it would cost to 'fix' it... that's your number one starting point (in addition to what other potential problems might pop up from this... insurance issues, airbag, who knows...).

$900 for front piece + $800 for the doors + $2,000 for a body shop to fix up around the door frames + $1000 for the truck bed = $4,700. If you bring it back to good condition it is valued at $20,100 if 4X4 (18,300 if 2WD). To break even you shouldnt spend more than $15,400 but thats if you can get it to good condition for only $4,700. Realistically the truck is only worth around $15,000 all fixed up with aftermarked or used parts so your better off spending less than $10,300 for the truck if the engine, trans and frame are still in top condition. Its a different story if any of those are bad.

Just got off the phone with the guy. He stated that he bought truck from individual a yr ago. Spent $1500 to get the frame straighten out. Needs cab, bed repair. Interior intact, no damage. Clear title but I would suspect you may have problems getting it re-titled correctly. Seems like the owner wreck it and sold/ handed the clear title over.Runs/drives but he currently lost the key! He owns a body shop but unable to get more loans to finish various projects, including this truck. Taking best offer for whole truck but currently the highest bidder is $7000. My take is that it would be cheaper to buy a used Tacoma with a clear title and no damage for around $13-15 K..You probably will have to spend that much to make it driveable and body/paint repairs..No thanks !

Yea the story behind it is BS. If he owns a body shop then he wouldnt be selling it unless he knows there are other issues that make it not worth the repair. Plus the frame is now weeker from being straightened. Not good for offroading.
I am chaning my vote to ... Don't do it!
