I am thinking about getting this one myself. I purchased the

$160 Rexing V1P 4K Car Dash Cam 2.4" LCD 2160p Front + 1080p Rear Wi-Fi 170° Wide Angle Dual Channel with Rear Cam, G-Sensor, WDR, Loop Recording Mobile App Supercapacitor

Rexing V1P with the rear camera and it is ok but I am finding I would like something better. The resolution on the V1P is not up to what I would like and it doesn't have a parking mode (which I thought it did for some dumb reason).

 

Let me know how you like it, I bought their "bottom of the barrel" h50 cam couple years back, it's ok, but wanting something better

 

Looks good, only thing i did differently is i put the front camera on the right side of the rear view mirror so the lens would be closer to center/ the rear view would hide the camera from sight.

 

@Nemx735 yep, I considered that... I'd had some poor feedback from passengers when I was playing around with a go-pro clone on the go-pro mount, so I went with the left side setup. From the drivers seat the camera is well hidden by the mirror. Only negative is I have to hit the buttons by feel, but the key buttons are pretty simple to remember (and I hope not to really *need* this much).

 

I bought the same thing when i came out a few months ago. I made a mistake of having the rear camera upside down. I sent in a request to have the firmware update be able to fix that. I also, have the hard wire, but didn't install it yet. I was hoping to get some power from the mirror, but could not find any. Ran the power though the center console. I am happy with the install which is very similar to yours and so far these months has been great.

 

Well, at least know that your experience and others who hung the rear camera upside down helped me to know to check before I stuck it to the window. So, some good came of it! LOL

I was already tapping switched power behind the kick panel at the bottom for something else, so it was simple enough to run the hardwire cabling down the A pillar.

 

Same setup and its fantastic! This camera is worth every penny thats forsure. I also mounted on the right hand side though for centering. But being unable to see the bottoms drives me nuts. Only button you'll ever really use is wifi and you should hopefully be parked when using it anyways.

 

How do you like your dash cam so far. I just finished my F770 install yesterday. I put my main unit on the right
side of the rear view mirror to get it closer to the centerline. Running the cable to the back was a snap since I
had already removed my headliner to sound deaden the roof (two layers of EzCool). So far it is just a "set it
and forget it." I'm using 2 128 gb micro SDHC cards, and swapping them out each month.

 

@wudbuchr So far I like it pretty well. I wish they did a better job of quieting the voice; it still chats at me for parking events. I'd like more customizability there. Their software is kind of rudimentary, but I have iMovie so that's fine.

Here's my quick video/blog where I showed where I wired the rear cam to my truck toppers rear window. I went through the wirewall under the passenger seat, used some plastic tubing to shield the wire along the bottom of the truck, come back up at the tailgate. Here's a video from the rear camera mounted inside the cab as close to the sliding window as feasible. It's off center a bit, and of course the bed does obscure the nose of cars immediately behind me. Georgia has no front plates though so it'd be a bit moot.

I considered aiming the camera down another notch but prefer to keep a good bit of sky in the mix to capture the status of any traffic lights. I'm not having any real ill effects on the video quality, the F770 sensors and software seem pretty good.

Same here. I was in an accident a few months back where I was rear ended and pushed into the car in front of me. Guy that hit me tried to tell the cop I had already hit the car in front of me. A camera would have been indisputable.

I've already got a couple of add a fuses in my truck for my heated seats, so it seems to do this right, now would be the time to add a real fuse block. I got some reading to do...

BTW, for the ACC power I soldered three female bullet terminals onto the wire from the fuse tap to use for different things. I've done bussmann fuse blocks in the past but didn't need that level of sophistication for this particular job.

 

... and also... The Thinkware F770 you can just buy the front main unit to begin with and add the rear camera later on if you wish. I've read that the BlackVue DR650 doesn't let you do this if you start with the 1 channel version. I'd suggest confirming with someone more knowledgeable before taking my word for it though.

Functionally, do these record in a loop such that if there is an accident, you stop the recording and download the footage? From the descriptions, it sounds as though you interface with your phone to download footage and manage the camera software. Any other comments on functionality is appreciated. My recent accident has sold me on the use of these going forward.
