The Thinkware keeps multiple different folders on the SD card and puts the videos in them depending on circumstances. Continuous recording as you drive goes in once place, and if it's shock sensor detects an incident, the current clip instead goes into a separate folder for incidents. Same for parking mode. It has a couple of partition setups which effectively mean that non-incident recordings won't overwrite incident recordings, but enough incidents will overwrite the oldest incidents.

All recordings are in one-minute blocks. Front and rear cameras each generate their own recordings and are labelled with "F" or "R" and the date/time in the filename.

So if there's an accident, you can turn on wifi and download the appropriate videos to your phone if you need it right away. You can even export them to your photos in your phone, open it up in iMovie, and edit a clip if you perhaps want to get rid of the audio track.

Or you can pull out the microSD card and put it in your computer, using the Thinkware software to view it. In that mode you see the GPS and speed info, even if you turn off the speed "stamp" in the video itself.

My only complaint is I can't completely shut off the voice. It'll still tell me how many parking incidents were detected; and of course there's always one due to the vibration as I get into the truck. I'm kind of getting over it but wish it could just beep or something. I don't need my stuff talking at me.

Actually the Thinkware cameras record in 1 minute slices. and yes, they record in a loop, overwriting the
oldest slice when additional storage is necessary. I am running two 128GB SHDC cards, swapping them
out and formatting them each month. Yes, you can save an incident to your phone for transfer to your PC
for archiving or sending to another party.

FYI the user manual is available for download from here: http://www.thinkware.com/Support/Download#1

I'm using a couple of 32GB cards, the one that came with it and a PNY card I picked up. Seems to give me plenty of coverage as my commute isn't terribly long and the timelapse parking mode takes a lot less space.

Video files are 1 minute as mentioned, and are 80MB each. So on a thirty minute drive you'll end up with roughly 4.7GB of video spanning 60 files. I'll have to check again but I think the timelapse mode is a 30:1 ratio, with each 80MB file covering 30 minutes. I may be misremembering.

I believe that is true, I had the 650gw-1ch which did not have a second channel port. Can't confirm on the 650S model (the newer model) but I wouldn't count on it.

I found out today that the 650S actually added the parking mode notifications too like the F770 has, so when you get back into your truck it tells you how many impacts it detected. That was not a feature in the older 650GW model.

If you do order, I would recommend getting the bundle with the smallest memory card, and then buy a 64 gb card separate. you save bunch of money that way because they jack of the price for bigger memory cards, and then keep the one included as a spare in your car if you ever need one. I like to keep spares in my car in case I get into an accident and absolutely want to be sure not to record over a file (I prefer not to have it full of locked files) I can just swap cards.

edit: OH and if you do order from blackboxmycar.com you can use my coupon code 'USDASH' for a few bucks off. its $10 off CAD which ends up being around $8, not much but its something. they ship to the US at no extra cost from what I recall. Although if Amazon is cheaper I wouldn't blame you from ordering there.

Thanks, that takes care of me doing any second-guessing of my choice to go with the F770. If the BlackVue is doing the same annoying thing that's the only part I dislike, then I'm good. :)

Although Amazon might be cheaper, make sure the seller is an authorized Tjhinkware dealer. Thinkware has a decent
warranty, which is only honored through authorized dealers.

Yes, be sure to know your seller. Blackboxmycar is authorized as best I know, and claims to be so: https://www.amazon.com/sp?seller=AQXDPQN3LTP6G

They also are great for answering questions.

According to their Facebook page they're having issues with the site provider, so their .com site is down but their blackboxmycar.ca site is up and running. Moot regarding buying from their Amazon storefront, but I wanted to note that tidbit if anyone had issues getting to their main site. (I'm just a satisfied customer and get nothing for recommending them in case anyone is curious)

I have the Finevu CR500HD from Blackboxmycar.com I had to turn off the event mode (impact) because every bump is recorded and fills up that file not to mention an audible beep that drives me nuts. Have you had any problems like that with your F770? My truck is not lifted, just a stock TRD Sport. Also I can't figure out witch fuse to connect the hard wire kit to so I've never used the parking mode.

Shock sensitivity is adjustable, I've had no issues. I mentioned the audio announcement of a parking incident every time I get in (from the shock of door opening/closing) but can live with it.

I discuss power in the fifth paragraph of my OP.

Yeah, I tried the sensitivity adjustment. Every setting was too sensitive. Probably just the Finevu. I will say that Blackboxmycar is a great company, Alex there answered all my emails when I bought it, I think it was in 2013. It's old technology now.

mine only beeps when i hit an obvious bump. its not common for me but i am pretty sure you can turn the beep off if you want.

whats nice about the F770 is you can set certain area on the card dedicated to parking motion, parking incident, incident, and you can set it to make them lock, or have them also loop over just like regular recorded clips.

I love seeing how everyone concealed the wires. For those who really put in the extra effort to make the wires hidden, how long did it take you to hide all the wires. Domes of these seem like you put a lot of time in it. I just don't want visible wires all over my truck. Thank you all much for this thread. This is exactly what I was looking for.

Tough to say how much time running the wires behind the panels took since I was doing a couple other things at the same time. Not too long though relative to the value of having a neat and clean install.

Just dropped $400 and got the system. Very excited. Will be tracking the package every hour lol.

I only got the 32gb. If I need a bigger card I'm sure I can buy a card for cheaper elsewhere. I went the blackboxmycar because there customer service seems to be the best.

What size card did everyone get. Also how do you feel the parking mode is? I'm pretty excited about that feature. I hate thinking my truck can get dinged up and not know about it. Has this feature been helpful to anyone yet? Do the notifications of the parking mode prove to be valuable?

Also does anyone use the safety features?

    Thank you for everyone's feedback.
