You probably will not see this every day. Two carpets and a bench seat hung up to dry. Yes I have a bit of a ... garage or as I like to call it a storage unit with a roll up door.DSC00542.jpg DSC00538.jpg DSC00540.jpg

I dyed mine black with some vinyl and carpet spray paint dye. It worked to at least make it look better than the chew / bong water stains all over it after it came to me from a farm...

I did this for an experiment. I wanted to know how well it would work. I am going to use the original carpet from the white truck as it is in a little better shape.

I'm not mad at you for that lol. I'm borderline neurotic in freshening up stuff - washing it is the way to go, painting it after or not! I'm liking where this build is going.

Guess what, the engine runs. The bad news is it is a 2.4 2AZ-FE. I thought it was a 2.7. Hear are today's photosDSC00545.jpg DSC00546.jpg .

All 5-Lugs came with the 2RZ-FE in exception for a few very early model year 5-lugs which came with the 5VZ-FE. The 3RZ-FE's only came on PreRunners and the 4x4's.

Hear is some progress that I made the other day. I pumped out the fuel tank and filled with 5 gallons of premium. I also stole the fuel pump wiring from my 03 taco and wired it into the plug under the drivers seat. I hit the start on the ignition and it fired right up. The engine seems to run fine. It had number one spark plug pulled and there was water in it. I used the old spark plugs from my 4.7 v8. It does have oil or something in the exhaust though. It is not blue smoke, more gray than blue. I have to get water in the engine before running it for any time. I also am installing the automatic shift lever so I can try the transmission. here are the photos. DSC00546.jpg DSC00547.jpg DSC00548.jpg DSC00549.jpg DSC00550.jpg

This truck was from Ocean shores WA. That is where all the rust comes from. I have my friends 1973 jeep at my house which we also got from Ocean Shores. It I kind of funny but not. We fired up the 350 in the jeep yesterday and oil shot out of the engine. The oil filter had rusted out. Okay what a mess right? Guess what happened next, when running the red taco. I should have gotten a loto ticket because as I looked at the ground under the taco, I saw a big puddle of oil. The oil filter was rusted out. Now what are the odds of that happening twice in one day. I guess the odds are 2 of Ocean Shores. HaHaHa.

I am doing this one in real time, so to speak. That is what I should have done with the 4.7 swapped into the 03 taco.

What's the story on this engine/trans? Where'd you get it and how much did you pay, if you don't mind me asking?

I have been getting parts off this 06 4runner 4 years. the firs thing I got off of it was the wheels.001_1.jpg I have lived in the town I was born in all my life but 2 years 4 months. I have been going to the wreaking yard since my dad took me as a child, maybe 7 or 8. I remember thinking it was awesome all these cool cars, I could look, go through and find stuff. As far as price for the engine and trans, I got cash on top of the 03 to 06 swap. I used that money to get the parts. The 4runner was in a bad accident. The rear hatch is smasded down, windshield smashed. I have to get the engine computer and some wiring for the 4.0. The bad thing is the guy who pulled the engine cut the wiring harness at the fire wall. I need to get some heat-shrink in bulk LOL. It is going to be fun.
